Computer Problems: Quick Update · 5:49am May 21st
So; good news is my Archival Computer (AC) is more-or-less up and running and all my pictures are there and fine, just need to install drivers for my graphics card to fix some screen issues (nothing serious, just have a black void on either side of the desktop) and my LibreOffice.
Had a bit of a scare when I started having runtime errors on my external when trying to transfer pictures, but thankfully that's been fixed.
The bad news; I'm now having issues get LibreOffice to install.
For context; because the AC is not hooked-up to the net, since there's no real point as I'm no longer using it for the net anyway, I have to download LibreOffice onto my main computer (which Ironically was only build so I could play games on Steam, I didn't stop using XP as the main one for a long time), then once the download has been scanned to make sure it's clean I move it onto the external then from that onto the AC.
But it's telling my the installer package or whatever can't be opened.
I regret never backing up the one I had before when it was installed, but you learn something every day. Now I know for next time.
Now my leading theory is that I simply have the wrong version, since there's one for 32bit and one for 64bit, so I might have grabbed the wrong one. Though if anyone who reads this Blog has any ideas on anything I might have missed I'm all ears.
So that's where I am at the moment, further than I expected but not as far as I hoped. But a little progress is still progress and I'll take that over no progress anytime.
One step at a time, buddy. 👍
And yeah, the theory that you have the wrong version sounds about right to me: I had a similar problem where I had to download something, and my Mac was too out of date (as I had it for a few years now) to be able to handle the upgrades. Definitely see if getting the other version helps.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

I think what happened is I downloaded the 64bit version when I needed the 32bit, as its telling me "This installation package could not be opened", so that's why it won't work. But hopefully that'll be fixed soon.
I have the 32bit version downloaded, now it's just a matter of transferring it over. If it still doesn't work then I'm at a dead end, so here's hoping it works.

🤞 Fingers crossed, buddy. 🤞
