Fact Check: MLP G5 IS OVER by MLP Fever · 2:31am Jul 2nd, 2023
So MLP Fever put out a video earlier today alleging that because Make Your Mark is unfortunately ending this year, that means G5 as a whole is slowly reaching its end. Spoiler alert: This is complete nonsense. We already know that 23 episodes and 4 specials was always the plan for Make Your Mark and literally nothing was cancelled. The series just reached its natural end date as unfortunate as that is. The video above is my official response to that claim via a new YouTube Shorts series that I’m starting on my channel called: Fact Check, in which I basically parody all those websites debunking the constant misinformation spread throughout 2020 about a certain virus and…well, you know.
In this series, I basically take newly-posted G5 hate videos and debunk them in 1 minute. You could say that this is a marketing strategy for my upcoming video, but I really want to do this long-term in order to avoid having to address every single hate piece on YouTube in my own video. Plus, this was actually kinda fun to do. It’ll allow me to basically provide you all smaller-form content on the regular while I work on the big stuff because let’s be honest. These commentary channels upload their content faster than I do sometimes. So this is meant to be a counter to that.

That is true, that is true. I cannot help but see her video (and related ones) as pure coping. I mean, she and the other antis seemed to just hop on this misinformation train by saying that because Make Your Mark is ending, G5 is ending. I don’t know where they got that narrative from, but it just seems like they’re projecting their own feelings onto us.
Fortunately, we know better and I’m not about to let these people get away with this nonsense anymore, which is why the new series exists. They’re certainly stuck with us indeed!
Well, if G5 isn't truly ending, it would be interesting where the story is going all the while Tell Your Tale could (maybe) give us hints. Who knows, maybe we could have a crossover with G4.
That was all that was planned for Make Your Mark? Well, we always knew G5 was never gonna be as big as G4, but I expected a little more.

Pretty much. I wouldn’t count the possibility of another G5 series or special with CGI animation out just yet, however, considering that’s how this generation all started. It’s possible that Make Your Mark could be renewed in the future too. But we’ll probably have to wait until after 2024 for any updates on that.
Right now, we got 328 minutes of Tell Your Tale content for next year on the table, which includes 70+ five-minute episodes and four 22-minute specials.

It's rather odd behaviour on MLP Fever's part. I wouldn't put her in the G5 Hater box on the grounds her responses to much of the content does raise some good points (for example, she explains why Haven's remark in Winter Wishday that 'it's a marathon, not a race' doesn't make sense), but I do get the impression she doesn't enjoy it as much as G4.
I'll admit I largely watch her videos about toy collecting. That and it's nice to have a fairly prominent PonyTuber who's British.
Have you watched any of the G5 videos produced by FaolanCortez? He's a G5 defender like yourself, and his cheerfulness and optimism really mark him out on YouTube. Even with episodes he's not so keen on (such as Ali-conned) he finds something positive to say.

Yeah, I watch Faolan Cortez. I absolutely adore his videos and he’s pretty much one of the only Brony YouTubers I watch on the regular nowadays. I wouldn’t go so far as to call MLP Fever a diehard G5 hater straight up, but boy does she make it tempting. Half of her content these days consists of blatant G5 hate and it makes it hard to watch, honestly. I remember subscribing to her channel during much simpler times and enjoying her content a lot.
But it’s gotten so bad that I just unsubbed today. It was hard, but I can’t keep putting up with content that does nothing but aggravate me. Watching G5 hate videos makes me depressed as this isn’t the fandom I know, which is why my cause is making an effort to fix it. I genuinely hope my upcoming defense video does well as I had to trudge through literal hell to get it made. I have nothing against her as a person (or pony in this case) or as a content creator. But I think she’s going a bit too far with this similar to Star Strike.

But yes, we probably have a long, uphill struggle against us. I'm shifting production over to bringing out more G5 stories in favoured genres on Fimfiction to showcase that, like FiM, G5 can blend seamlessly with anything.

Yeah, I remember those. And good for you. I can’t wait to read future stories of yours. As for me, I know I’m going to continue writing G5 stories for the foreseeable future as well. Despite the fact that my upcoming Lunar Literary Universe will be existing as the main story continuity for the next 10 years after the Misty Saga ends, I still want G5 stories to be a permanent fixture of the “Elseworlds” brand as I love writing them.

I don’t know. Honestly, I’m torn between whether I want Starlight to come back or not. On one hoof, it could be used in a very smart way and Starlight could kinda mentor Misty a bit in regards to forgiving herself for her past actions. But on the other hoof, she could very easily become overused, and shouldn’t we let Twilight’s cameo be enough? Her message is the mystery at the center of the Opaline arc and that’s perfect. We don’t need another G4 character appearance at the end of the show and I fear for what her Tell Your Tale design could look like if she becomes a recurring character. The only character in my opinion that has remotely benefited from that art style in my opinion is Misty as she looks absolutely adorable in 2D. The rest of the characters look so much better in their native 3D forms.
Best case scenario, Starlight isn’t involved or if she is, involved in a short, one-off appearance. I personally think what the title is referring to is the secrets of Equestria and the true backstory behind everything. That would be a fantastic way to end the show for a good while.

Thanks! Yeah, my written plan for the LLU spans across 10 years, similar to James Gunn’s plan for the DCU. Of course, this could change based on feedback or time, and if I get bored working on it, then I can easily pull another “Flashpoint” reset like Izzy Moonbow: Beyond The Multiverse of Randomness is going to do to the Misty Saga.
But I doubt that I’ll get bored as the story I want to tell with this shared universe has been one that’s been brewing around in my head for quite some time. It’ll use the DC Snyderverse as the blueprint for the tone and structure.
