Thanks for giving my rarepair fic some love! Unless I missed something, this is the only completed fic with a Cheerilee X Ditzy Doo (Derpy Hooves) fic on the site, at least from the searches. There might be an incomplete, one, but I was only concerned with finished works when trying to see the rarity of my chosen parity. This fic really started with me just seeing what might be fun to write and the scene with Dinky changing her grades from A's to F's and another cut joke that sprang to mind. I built it around that moment to see where it'd go. It's nothing jaw-dropping or world-changing, but folks seemed to like it enough to keep it on the featured list for a few days. I'm glad you all enjoyed it!
You may or may not have noticed, but it is an entry for the May Pairings Contest. This year, I've decided to read all my fellow entries into the contest and try to leave constructive comments on each. The operative word being "try" here. I am of the mind if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Especially when it will make you look like a poor sport. I'm not a judge anyway, so I'd rather not come off as rude if I can help it considering I'm in the running for this thing. I'm just waiting until some amazing people drop a bunch of bangers of fics at 11:59.99 on May 31st, completely obliterating this cute fic with last-minute god-tier writing. Cheerilee would not approve of the practice of everyone waiting until the last moment, but I digress.
Now I'm going back to my regularly scheduled fictions. I'm 2K words into the first draft of 47. This week has just been really busy at work, so I haven't had the mental energy to write. Luckily, it was a frontloaded week and tomorrow is going to be light. Hope to get to 4K tomorrow at least.
In other news, I got messaged a few days ago by NovemberDragon who was interested in translating this fic into Russian! Wow! That was unexpected! That was an item on my bucket list that I didn't even know I had! So, I wanted to give a shout-out to the folks who put in the work to get the words translated into another frikin language! Thanks to NovemberDragon on FimFiction for translating it as well as their Russian editors, Randy1974 and Nuclear-pony-Jack on The Herd (Табун). If you want to read the Russian version because you aren't able to read any of this blog, then here's the link it on Ponyfiction and the associated blog post on The Herd (Табун). According to November, the editors enjoyed the fic too, so that's at least three folks that like the translated version. That was really cool. Thanks again you three!
And to put a clear pin on it, even if the world sucks outside of the Internet, I'm always supportive of people escaping reality for a little bit with a nice story if it can help. I won't assume anything on their part in terms of who or what they may support in the current political climate. In the same vein, I wouldn't want someone else's perception of me colored by the fact that I'm an American, especially since I'm from the south. All sorts of terrible implications you could paint with that brush. I just know they wanted some cute horse words, and I am honored that NovermberDragon offered to translate it. If anyone else has wanted to translate things into other languages, but has been too afraid to ask, hit me up. I don't bite. I'd love translations, fanart, whatever, and I will always give credit to where credit is due. Seeing folks enjoy what I do makes my day, every day.
