Thoughts on The Cutie Re Mark parts 1 and 2 · 1:26pm May 6th, 2023
This is a rather exciting finale to season five and one that I love a lot, primarily due to all the possible scenarios for stories you could come up with. The premise goes as follows: Starlight Glimmer wants to stop Rainbow Dash from performing her Rainbooom, which prevents the Mane Six from receiving their cutie marks, leading to their villains from previous seasons conquering Equestria. So we then see how Equestria would be if Twilight and her friends didn't stop them.
The Sombra Timeline: Basiclly, this is a world where Equestria is at war with Sombra as he returned with the Crystal Empire and has enslaved the Crystal Ponies to be used as soldiers in his battle. What I loved about this Timeline was seeing Princess Celestia and her soldiers actively trying to fight King Sombra. It just makes me more annoyed at how easily they were taken down by Tempest Shadow when she invaded Catnerlot. If Equestria went to war, they wouldn't go down without a fight.
The Chrsyalsis Timeline: Queen Chrysalis has taken over Equestria, and Zecora leads the last remnants of resistance. We didn't get to see much of this compared to the Sombra one, but I liked the idea of Zecora leading a resistance against the Changelings, as she is such a great but underutilized character in the series. It's why I made her an integral character in my story, which is based off of the "Discord won" timeline.
The Nightmare Moon Timeline: This one seems less chaotic but exciting. Nightmare Moon has imprisoned her sister Celestia into the moon instead and has become the ruler of Equestria. It also seems most ponies have become entirely loyal to her. I used this Timeline and mingled it within my story as Nightmare Moon returning ensured that Disocrd was set free.
The Tirek timeline: Everypony is dead. I can see this being an apocalyptic event and that the pony race would go extinct if this dude regained his full strength.
The Discord Timeline: This is, of course, what my story is about and is the one I wanted to do for a while just because out of all the villains minus Tirek, he would have been able to take them on and become the ruler of Equestria and take down the other villains until Tirek arrives. I can't wait to finish this story, as it's probably the craziest Timeline.
The Flim and Flam one is interesting: They seemed to have industrialized Ponyville which I find to be an interesting concept.
In conclusion l found the time travel shenanigans interesting, and I enjoyed seeing the alternate timelines. On top of that, the battle between her and Starlight was engaging and tense. I think it ended well with Twilight having to really use everything she's learned to talk Starlight down from destroying Starswirl's scroll. This was indeed a grand season finale and one that I personally really enjoyed.
