Thoughts on Where the Apple Lies · 2:53am March 25th
This episode is one that I would not expect to be in season six, but it was one of my favorite episodes in the season, given how it gives us some backstory to the Apples, which I honestly enjoy when an episode focuses on the Apple family. The episode is basiclly a fable to teach Apple Bloom about telling lies and how Applejack got herself into a heap of trouble lying to Filthy Rich about selling him some Apple Cider when Granny is strict about it being sold only on their farm due to preservation issues. So, to cover up the fact she gave Filthy permission to sell him Cider, she tells him she's sick, and this leads to her and Big Mac trying to make sure Filthy doesn't figure it out. This then leads to them trying to make it look like Granny is in the hospital, and a bunch of shenanigans later, Big Mac takes Granny's place and almost gets his hoof sawed off by Granny in an operating theatre by Granny herself!
Honestly, it felt like a Seinfeld episode with how Applejack and Big Mac basiclly get themselves into a massive heap of trouble, and the entire episode felt like it didn't really have anything to say except that lying is wrong. But the execution is what made it good and fun to watch, and it was interesting to see Applejack being a habitual liar and Big Mac way more talkative. I also found it interesting when the two were fighting over who would take over the farm and how Applejack used to be much more open with new ideas while Big Mac was more firm with being traditional. I almost felt like they both learned lessons but were a bit too extreme in learning from the experience. I think Applejack should experiment with new ideas but not be so caught up in them when losing focus. Also Big Mac seems to actually have alot on his mind I would reccomend writing his notes down in a journal and maybe conveying them in ways that make sense so hes not rambling thats what I do anyways.
