No Chapter this Week. · 4:17pm Apr 2nd, 2023
Been a bit distracted, so I haven't had as much time to work on Entry 27 as I'd have liked. My intent is to continue working on it during the week. I've already got ~3000 words completed, but for a bit in the last week (starting on the 24th) I developed something of a 'sleep disorder' more commonly known as Powerwash Simulator. But hey, I'm aiming to have a longer chapter this week.
A few plot threads we'll be tackling from here-on out, just to whet your appetites.
- Anon has an 'experience'.
- Anon enacts petty revenge.
- Anon gets inspiration for new applications of runic magic.
- Anon completes her air bullet spell.
- Anon makes a moral choice.
- Anon meets Emerald Breeze.

No worries, take your time with the story. A lot of people forget that authors have lives outside of their stories, which is a shame. Take as much time as you need, and I'll be here when you update the story
The plot threads sound really exciting, and I highly anticipate them! I especially wonder what Anon's 'experience' will be. I hope it's nothing dangerous or traumatizing. With everything she's been through for the past few weeks, I think she deserves a break. Not to mention her stay in the EQG world so far. Quite a peculiar welcome to get concussed on her first day, I would say
Your story is just so interesting and well written that it's become one of my all-time favorite stories ever, and I hope to continue to read it in the future
Also, just a quick question, and you don't have to answer it if it a secret or anything, but do you have a clear end in mind for this story, or do you plan to continue it and see where it takes you? I love the story, and I don't want to see it go, but I wonder if you have a clear end in mind down the line?

For the most part, I've been just planning one plot-arc at a time. I might well come to a point where I decide, "This is a good place to begin writing a proper ending."
Also kinda tempted to work this comic's gag into a future arc.

I like the way you write one plot-arc at a time, as it gives you time to explore an arc and give it the time it needs. It also makes the story feel more organized and easy to follow, at least for me.
Also, that comic gag is hilarious, and I'd love to see you write about it! Good luck explaining this one Shining! I can totally see it work for this story, especially after everything that happened to Chrysalis and her "reformation"
(also, Cadence's and Twilight's suspicious faces are priceless)

Even then, planning one arc at a time is stretching it at times. Usually I set overall objectives, and let them fill out and evolve as they go. It allows for a story to have a structured plot, but still feel fairly fluid. Some of the best parts I write are cases of me embodying this meme.

On another note, I wonder when Anon will go to therapy. It was mentioned a while ago, and I think with everything Anon's been subjected to, she'll most likely benefit from it
A lot has happened to her in a very short period of time, not to mention her traumatic past and childhood. She seems to handle herself very well, but I think she could benefit from some therapy. It would also be nice to see Anon visit the Crystal Empire and see her reaction to the place, not to mention some much needed bonding time with big sister Starlight 
Now that I think about it, there are quite a few more plot points that would be awesome to see. Anon in therapy, more Anon in school without fights, Anon in the Crystal Empire, Anon and her exploration of runic magic. Maybe even use that cloud spell and go see a Wonderbolts show.
Also, I know it's cliché, and it would kinda undermine the whole 'Earth Pony who uses magic' point, but it would be kinda interesting if Anon became an alicorn. As far as I know, Luna, Celestia, Cadence and Twilight became alicorns after performing an incredibly impressive feat, usually in the realm of magic. Luna and Celestia took control of the moon and sun respectively, Cadence used love to heal a broken heart and Twilight completed Starswirl's spell and understood the true magic of friendship. I wonder if Anon could become the Princess of Runes/Runic Magic. I know it would undermine the whole 'Earth Pony who uses magic' thing, but it's interesting to think about in any case. It would also be hilarious to see how Anon would handle the situation
Lastly, I really hope that Anon and Sunset become friends, or at least friendly acquaintances. As you might've guessed from my profile pic, Sunset is one of my favorite characters, and I love all the screen time I can get of her. I think she really appreciates all the help Anon's giving her with this whole Anon-a-miss situation, and I really hope they can start a bond from there. I hope she won't just go back to the EQG world and be forgotten forever. I understand that Sunset has some things to address in the EQG world, what with how her 'friends' treated her during this whole Anon-a-miss situation, but I hope we get to see more of her in the story. That's assuming she even wants to talk to her 'friends' ever again after how she was treated. I rarely see Sunset go back to Equestria, at least not in most stories about Anon-a-miss. Pony Sunset is just too adorable anyway

Don't worry, there won't be any Alicorn Anon. I will tackle the trip to the Crystal Empire once the Anon-a-Miss arc comes to a close, and yeah, she'll get some relatively peaceful times... Even if she might get it into her head that she could use her runic powers for good like some sort of wannabe superheroine *cough*Kamen Rider*cough*.

That's nice, I really like the whole 'Earth Pony who uses magic' thing. I don't see it used too often - at least not in a good way - and it makes her unique in a nice way, so good job on that
Plus, it's always a joy to see how other ponies react to her magic ability. It's been so long since there's been an Earth Pony Wizard (Capital W for magic!)... Is Wizard gendered in this world? I know Wizard is gender neutral in some stories, but what about in this story...? She could also just be called a Mage or Sorceress or something... Anyway, it's been so long since there's been an Earth Pony Wizard that everyone just assumes that unicorns are the only ones able to use external magic (lighting spells, levitation, shields/barriers etc.), so it's nice to see how shocked everyone gets when Anon uses magic
It's also nice to see a different take on the whole magic system. I really love magic, and it's really interesting how your runic magic system works. I look forward to see how Anon expands upon her magical arsenal! Plus, they won't see the fireball coming before it's too late, if she gets into a fight
I expect Anon to walk around with a bunch of magical medallions in due time, with all her different spells ready to use
Following that, could we maybe see a sketch of a Weaved Spiral/rune diagram sometime? It would make it a lot easier to visualize, and I feel like it would make it a lot easier to follow when Anon experiments with her runic magic.
Also, I JUST had a thought. Could Anon create talismans that she could throw at a target, or stick to walls or something? Little slips of paper with runes on them that activate or power a certain spell. Like, imagine if Anon throws a slip of paper in front of her, and a wall suddenly sprouts up from the ground. Or she creates one to produce clean water. It could even function as a stove in a pinch. Granted, she won't have direct contact to the talismans if she throws them, so either she'll need some way to remotely activate them, or some way to activate them and trigger a timer for the spell. Though that still won't solve the direct contact problem. As far as I know, Anon needs to be in direct contact with the rune, so that probably limits the use of talismans, at least the ones she could throw. Hmm, maybe she could modify a spell to activate at a certain distance away from her. Just like the light spell where it activates above her head or hoof/hand, maybe she could make it activate further away from her. Would that increase the difficulty of the spell/Weaved Spiral though? Is distance proportionate to difficulty? Besides that, the water and stove talismans could probably still work, like an off/on switch. Would be nice for camping.
Sorry, I'll stop my ramble now, I can get pretty into magic systems
Also, I'm excited for the trip to the Crystal Empire in the future! Some therapy will do Anon good, and we really need some more Big Sister Starlight bonding time
I wonder what else they'll do in the Crystal Empire. They probably have some time to walk around and explore the place and all the different sights. ALSO! I hope we'll get some more Anon and Flurry Heart snuggle time! The previous snuggle time was absolutely adorable - despite the circumstances - and I'm sure Flurry Heart will be super excited to see Anon again! Seven Fates, please make this happen! I require adorableness! 
But as much as I'm excited for the Crystal Empire arc, I still thoroughly enjoy this Anon-a-miss arc! I can't wait for the real culprits to be caught and the whole aftermath that will cause! So much chaos, heartache and retribution! I also can't wait for the cowardly sneak who attacked Anon to be caught as well. The retribution will be sweet
I wonder if Anon-a-miss will be caught with the truth spell/rune, or if Anon manages to catch them in some other way. At least Sunset's name has been cleared, and everyone understands how much they messed up. Poor Sunset, there's a lot of healing in her future

Funny enough, what you're describing is reminiscent of the spell tags used by Evening Script in her appearance in another story; slips of paper imbued with a spell. The runic spells idea evolved from that. I can certainly try to diagram it, although it'd just be something small. Weaved Spiral is more recursive pattern than truly spiral.

If it was a perfectly symmetrical spell she was building, they'd definitely look closer to examples of fractal recursion.

Oh, okay, thank you! That helps with my visualization a lot! Does each 'spiral' get successively smaller as they progress, like recursive patterns, or are they all the same size? I imagine it would be difficult to create complex spells if the recursive pattern diagram gets smaller and smaller with each successive modifier
Could you link multiple runes together in a much more complex rune structure? Like if Anon created her light sphere rune, and created a second rune to multiple x-target, and thus create a swarm of light spheres. Maybe she could create an intermediary rune to link the two runes together. I imagine she could create some truly complex and enormous rune diagrams/linked structures this way. Just imagine a whole floor packed together with rune medallions - maybe hexagons -, where Anon activates one rune, and the whole floor lights up in a massive and super complex formation of interconnected runes. Kind of like a huge puzzle of runes! Maybe she could create teleportation stations this way. Whole rooms dedicated to teleportation stations or waypoints all across Equestria! I also imagine the interconnected runes would get around the recursive pattern problem. Man, this really makes me excited! I love magic systems in stories, and your rune system sounds super complex and exciting!
Though, I guess the 'swarm' modifier could just as well be part of the light rune medallion
Also, that's really neat with Evening Script's spell tags! I don't know which story you're referring to where Evening Script appears, but I'd love to check it out if you can send me a link or tell me the title of the story. I just know she's the avatar of your Bat Pony, which is SUPER cute btw!
