    Oh jeez 100 followers

Well, I did say in the last blog I'd have a follow up that pertains to what I'm planning to do next, and what better way to do that than to couch it in a post about reaching one hundred followers!

XXII – And Here We Are [The End]

Some of you may have seen this coming, some of you may be surprised, some of you may have seen the edited author's note at the end (which I edited months ago and would have given this all away), but this is the end of Chromatic Aberration. (I'm still gonna be writing tho don't let the "The End" scare you)

XIII – WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN (and other really, Really cool things) · 4:19pm Feb 6th, 2023

Hey everyone! Apologies for the radio silence lately. I've been dealing with a few health issues (nothing dire, worry not), and I've been in somewhat of a funk for a little while. That said, I believe it's fading now, and with any luck, it should be over it relatively soon.

Despite my absence, there's been progress on Chromatic Aberration, but it's been slow for a few reasons. Before I get into that, though, there's something I want to show you all. Skip to the second horizontal rule if you just wanna read about CA.

After editing all of Can You See What I See, Eileen was inspired to write an interstitial piece from Twilight's perspective that takes place toward the end of the finale, and it's so good omg I can't get over it. If you've read CYSWIS, I highly recommend you read this. Not only because it's good, but because I've dubbed it canon. It's just shy of 600 words, so it's short and sweet as well.

Stuff like this is my absolute favorite part of creating. Views, likes, followers and whatnot are plenty nice and all, but nothing quite matches the joy of someone telling me they were inspired by something I wrote. Not only that, but that they wrote something based off of what I wrote.

Anyway, onto Chromatic Aberration talk. There's not a whole lot to mention other than a couple things:

First, the last chapter of the first act will be split into two chapters. This is because the scope of this chapter became much larger than I originally anticipated. This does not mean that both chapters will be released separately, however. The reason I've been taking so long is because I want both to come out very close together, if not at the exact same time. This is because one leads directly into the other.

The reason for splitting it mostly has to do with word count. I don't have anything close to a definitive word count yet, but I've been estimated it's going to be in the range of 12k-15k total. My personal limit on word count per chapter is 10k, simply because I know how much of a time commitment reading something that length can be. As much as I want to tell my whole story, I want to respect the reader's time as well. Much like everything in life, it's a balancing act. And I am as uncoordinated as it gets lol

Second, I can't remember if I've talked much about the act structure, but I figured I'd give a little more information on that as well. The story was originally planned out to be three acts, but I've since decided two will be enough for the story I'm trying to tell. While outlining the second half in more detail, I kind of realized that both of the last acts I had were disproportionately smaller than the first, so I decided to put them together and trim the fat.

The current goal is to have it finished by the summer. That might seem like a long way from now, and it is a sizeable amount of time, but I'm giving myself lots of space to work with here. I don't doubt I can finish it before then, but for what I plan to do with this story, it will need as much time in the oven as it demands. Trust me, I think it'll be worth it.

Anyway, that's about all I've got for today. The moment I close this tab, I will begin what will hopefully be the final draft of these two chapters together. I think it'll be worth the wait. I've been very excited to write these two chapters, and because of that, I want them to be perfect. Hopefully you'll see them relatively soon.

Thanks for your patience, thank you for reading, and have a great rest of your day!:heart:
