    Oh jeez 100 followers

Well, I did say in the last blog I'd have a follow up that pertains to what I'm planning to do next, and what better way to do that than to couch it in a post about reaching one hundred followers!

XXII – And Here We Are [The End]

Some of you may have seen this coming, some of you may be surprised, some of you may have seen the edited author's note at the end (which I edited months ago and would have given this all away), but this is the end of Chromatic Aberration. (I'm still gonna be writing tho don't let the "The End" scare you)

Post-Everything [Next Story Info Inside] · 9:09pm February 7th

It's been a while since I posted anything, so I figured I would drop in and give an update on some things. Don't worry, the info isn't that far down lol

Unfortunately, I've not made a lot of progress on most of my projects over the last month. Right before the turn of the year—three days after my last blog post—I went through a breakup with a long-term partner. While it was amicable, it was still emotionally devastating, and as such, I haven't had the motivation or energy to work on my writing most days. On top of that, one of my girlfriends was visiting for half of January, so my time was occupied by that for the most part as well.

Thankfully, I'm over a lot of that now, and my schedule has been cleared a good bit. Right now, I'm trying to get back into the swing of writing, and I'm hoping to get this new story out to y'all soon. Still not sure when the first parts are going to drop, but I want to say within the next month or so.

Now, about the new story:

The title is Cast No Shadows. As mentioned in my previous blog, it is yet another long-ish story about my two favorite nerds cultivating a relationship, but with a backdrop that differs from canon. Specifically, this takes place not long after the Fall Formal and before Rainbow Rocks (not like I haven't done that before LOL)

It follows Twilight for the most part as she struggles through Crystal Prep—an oppressive environment with a student body that always seems to have it out for her for one reason or another. Still, she presses on, fixating on a project she started not long before winter break, hoping it will eventually be her ticket out of CPA.

On the first day back from winter break, she sees an unfamiliar face: Sunset Shimmer, a new student who transferred during the break. Twilight hits it off with this new girl a lot better than she expects, and much better than anyone else she's met at CPA. But there's something off about her, and when Twilight tries to find out what it is—or just more information about her in general—she ends up with far more questions than answers.

Despite Twilight's many inquiries, Sunset remains opaque about herself and her past, which adds an air of unease to their relationship. This causes tension to build within Twilight. Sunset is her first and only friend at Crystal Prep, but can they really be friends when Sunset is such a closed book? Is there a good reason for her lack of transparency, or is there something she's trying to hide?

There's a lot more to it, but for now, that's all you really need to know. I'm incredibly excited to get this out and show y'all where all this goes. I'm really proud of what I have so far, and I hope y'all will enjoy it when it finally drops.

Truthfully, a good portion of the beginning is already done, but the outline of this story has changed quite a bit since it was written back in December, and I need to make changes to the chapters I already have written to reflect that. That shouldn't take too terribly long, but I'm also sitting on a lot of other narrative decisions I've yet to make, and everything I've written totals out at around 36k words, so there's a lot I need to do. Regardless, hopefully you'll see it sooner rather than later!

Thanks for reading

I've seen a few Sunset transfers to CPA. They are fascinating in seeing what caused her to do so, or if it was simply she wanted the challenge of the academia.

sooooooooooooooooooooooo excited for this (though I'm a lil biased since I've been pretty involved behind the scenes :raritywink:).
