    All Things Considered…

I had begun writing my first story, Development of the Changeling Territories, a month after I started on this site. Furthermore, it had received a second chapter shortly after that.

That was over three years ago.

Yesterday, there was thunderstorm throughout the entire morning, and it eventually rained enough to flood many lower areas.

    Today?

Story Ideas? · 1:59am Dec 16th, 2012

Hello people who care!
I have thought of starting a story or two before the spring semester starts.

I have had some ideas concerning what to write, but am not sure if I should go through with them or not. :applejackunsure:
My only ideas all are related to social studies and research concerning different societies and regions. :rainbowderp:

1. A study made by changelings concerning how their society is built and how it functions after the failure at Canterlot (based around a view that all changelings are not completely dependent on a queen)
2. A follow-up that compares and contrasts this new changeling society and pony society.
3. Princess Celestia has sent two professors and Zecora to categorize the Everfree Forest's unique ecosystem.
4. Comparison and contrast between various pony cities and towns. (Canterlot compared to Manehattan; Ponyville compared to Trottingham)
5. Ponies have made their way into the human world (unnoticed by humans) and they are investigating how our world works and how it differs from their world.
(All stories would also take suggestions from readers!)

I think I have written too many biology reports. :derpyderp1:
If there are any suggestions, then please, speak up!

Five! I haven't read one like that yet.

616607 Thanks!
Even if more people don't vote, I might actually get off my fat flank and do something! :rainbowlaugh:

616687
Yeah, you BETTER get off your fat flank! You better! :trollestia:

I know what you mean about too many reports. One of my new stories will hopefully rectify that :trollestia:

Anyway, I'd like to see something about the inner machinations of the Changelings. That'd be pretty nifty, if I do say so myself.

621089 Yeah, I thought so too! Thinking in the shower does wonders! :trollestia:
(was that TMI? :twilightoops:)

How the hell did I get here? I mean what's this even abou-

624741 Was just thinking those are some pretty interesting ideas. Heck one idea I've thought about looking into (but might not so it's open if you want to take it) is Changeling relationships between the Hives (basically Changeling kingdoms) this can work with them being dependent on the Queen or it can work with the idea that the Changelings are semi-independant from the Queen with her role being leadership and acting as a focus to broadcast gathered love through out the Hive.

Heck one story idea that stemmed from this was basically what if the Changelings we see in the show attacked because there was a temporary vacuum in power because the Equestrian Changelings had to leave temporarily for some reason or another.

Also ponies doing a comparison study of the two species that plague pony kind and decide which is the lesser evil: Changelings or windigos. My personal fanon has it that the windigos don't try to invade Equestria is because Changelings will gladly attack them with hoof and magic to protect their feeding interests.

625032 I'm actually working on that story right now. :twilightsheepish:
I am starting off with talking about the Equestrian "colony" (the term I will use) and what caused them to attack Canterlot.
Then I will start going into colonies around the globe, such as one in the Crystal Kingdom, one in the Griffon Empire, etc.
Unfortunately, I have about only 1.3K words for the overview. :facehoof:

625042 I always imagined that the windigos were just ordinary sentient creatures that were driven out of pony lands when all three tribes united. The windigos, without anypony to terrorize, were never heard from again and slowly became a campfire story. :rainbowwild:

625066 Interesting. I would have made Chrysalis's Hive the Wasteland Hive. That way their invasion would make a good deal of sense as there wouldn't be much in the way of love there, prompting a desperate invasion of Equestria when the Equestrian Hive went somewhere. Instead of colonies, what about shadow kingdoms? After all it's an entire kingdom hidden in the shadow of another kingdom.

625078 My idea is kinda strange, Chrysalis's hive is somewhere bordering Equestria and the Griffon Empire. They are in a rich environment that is filled with vegetation. Said vegetation provides camouflage for the colony. The colony is halfway above and below ground level. I would explain in the actual story why Chrysalis attacked Canterlot, but I'll say in advance that she didn't like the idea of doing so.

And because their appearances bring to mind insects, I thought that instead of being in a single kingdom, it would be comprised of many colonies dotted around the globe. It's kinda like bees in their hives with individual queens for each hive. :pinkiehappy:

I always imagined that the windigos were just ordinary sentient creatures that were driven out of pony lands when all three tribes united. The windigos, without anypony to terrorize, were never heard from again and slowly became a campfire story.

Heh, i know. Too be fair this idea came about after reading a bunch of stories on here where the ponies completely forget about love and harmony and try to eradicate the changeling. Basically I thought "What if, by some weird twist of fate, the ponies of Equestria needed the changelings they so radically hate because they act as a natural shield against the windigos.

625095 While they are insect like make sure to point out their similarities to ponies as well. It would create an interesting contrast between how alien and how familiar they would seem to ponies. I imagine they would fall quite neatly into the pony version of the Uncanny Valley.

625101 But if the ponies hated the changelings, wouldn't that attract the windigos? :derpyderp1:
I am going be the assumption that ponies are wary of changelings and would likely throw them out of Equestria by hoof so that they know they aren't coming back. They don't hate the changelings because then they wouldn't "Love and Tolerate" now would they? :trixieshiftright:

625115 I am also having a time where ponies and changelings, at one point in time, got along smoothly. They traded information and trusted each other unconditionally, until some sorta calamity came and they lost touch. Several decades later, Canterlot gets attacked, and changelings have difficulty being trusted.
An ex:

Ever since the technique of glass was learned from ponies, changelings had loved windows and every room (barring bedrooms and bathrooms, ∞¢§£•§ forbid they had more than one) had at least three windows.

I took out one name, despite how common said name might be. :twilightblush:

625126

But if the ponies hated the changelings, wouldn't that attract the windigos?

And how might that be bad if you're chasing out your shield? :raritywink:

I am going be the assumption that ponies are wary of changelings and would likely throw them out of Equestria by hoof so that they know they aren't coming back.

but then that begs the question "Is it fair to make them starve because you don't like what they eat?"

They don't hate the changelings because then they wouldn't "Love and Tolerate" now would they?

When have the ponies ever loved and tolerated? Sorry, mate, but that's bronies, not ponies! The ponies in the show are incredibly xenophobic. Iron Will was referred to as a monster multiple times despite Fluttershy telling them to stop calling him that. Zecora is a simple zebra and they feared and shunned her. Over all, ponies stay away from anything new and different and it doesn't help that as a whole they are a pretty cowardly lot. Lovable cowards to be sure, but cowards none the less.

625196 :facehoof:

It's times like these where I would like to go back in time and slap myself across the face. :derpytongue2:
There are so many things in my mind right now, they're all crossing over and rearranging themselves! :applejackconfused:
Thanks for putting me in my place! :rainbowlaugh:

625311 It's no big deal. Everyone has theiir own specific braincanon when it comes to the show.

625497 I can't now right dumb.
I work the has now right. :rainbowderp:

I like number 5 to be honest [And I have done one crossover story I am proud of]

631381 Hmm, now I just need to get more ideas for that… :trixieshiftleft:
I am going to write the changeling idea first, get ideas from that, and then write #5.

631395 The crossover is with my fav RPG game [Heracles No Eikou Vi] [Glory of Heracles Vl [Proof of the Soul]

631401 Oh jeez, more games I don't know of. :derpytongue2:

631406 Its a good thing the game is in english [it takes place in Ancient Greece

631409 Oh, I was afraid I would go through a game in Japanese again. (My Japanese pen pal sent me a Japanese copy of LoZ Spirit Tracks :applejackconfused:)

631435 this particular game is the VI of the series and the only one to be released in NA [In the game you play as a young man with amnesia [Around 20ish I'd say] and he later finds out he's immortal, the game is basically a quest to find out his destiny and to find out why he's immortal

There are 4 other Main characters in the main Party who are also immortals and do not know why they are [And each character has certain special moes unique to him/her
Party and unique attacks
Hero: Basic Arts, Shield Bash, Dire Slash, Double Thrust, Shadow Binder, Sword Dancer and [Cool but Impractical] Heroic Strike
Leucos: Poiso Arrow, Bomb Toss, Reaper Strike and Toe tamppler
Axios [magic Sword and Oceanic Impact
Iphelcles/Heracles [Heraclean Arts
Eris
