    Resonance

After two and half years another long project comes to an end and with it—a moment of quiet retrospection before I ought to look back and start learning. Aside from the ‘Behind the stage’ section, this blog is relatively spoiler-free.

    Plans I have trouble following

I am still pretty much alive, but the recent events of my life lead me to make a few adjustments in regards to some things I spoke about in my last blog.

An annual report · 5:29pm Dec 21st, 2022

Another year has almost come to pass and it’s time to review its results.

This blog is spoiler-free and contains some news along with my ramblings.

Unfortunately, I have once again failed to reach all of my goals.

The sad reality of life is that I’m a human being and thus susceptible to the events taking place every day—both planned and totally unexpected. My initial draft for this blog implied sharing details of my life to explain why I haven’t been as productive as I should have, but those always feel like feeble excuses, nor do I believe anyone is interested in hearing what about my misadventures.

Another unpleasant truth I’ve discovered is my inability to work on a few large projects simultaneously, no matter how motivated I am. Maybe if I had some source of income other than a full-time job that would have been a possibility…

Anyhow, that leads me to the first important piece of news—I’m fully focusing on Resonance with an intent to finish as soon as possible. Though I did start to work on Niello (my original story) as I intended to, it’s stuck on only four chapters being written and has been gathering dust since April—which bothers me beyond measure.

It’s impossible to tell if finishing Resonance is going to take me a couple of months or the entire next year. I don’t intend to rush it and can’t predict the turns my life might take.

Now for some more pleasant news.

One might have noticed that my texts receive editing no longer (no editing done by other people, that is). The dependence on a third party to have my work to be finished and ‘allowed’ to be public has always greatly upset me. And though I don’t claim to have perfect English now, I do believe the years of practice, study and working with native speakers imbued me with enough knowledge to produce prose of an acceptable quality. Hopefully, I am not wrong; but I am yet to receive a single complaint.

The Truth-Telling Lies got a rewrite, as I promised. It’s not flawless, but should be a better story now. Much more importantly, I enjoyed working on it and sort of like it now. By the way, it should conclude my inclination to return to my works and give them a new coat of paint.

I dared to post a new story—Flutterlich. It’s my testing ground for another piece that is in my plans (and has been there for a year and a half now), but not yet in the works—not till I finish Resonance, at least. The archaic style I try to develop stems from my fascination with Lovecraft’s work and, speaking of which—this year I’ve finished reading his entire bibliography and that has changed my attitude towards him as an author. If anyone is interested, I can post a whole essay about that.

As it was mentioned above, Niello is currently on an obliged hiatus and I’m itching to get back to it.

That should conclude my ‘report’, though I might have forgotten something—the last month has been quite taxing on my health, both mental and physical (I’m doing better now, at least in regards to my psyche). There are also some little things I haven’t mentioned on purpose—it’s too early to make any announcements as more work has to go into those before calling them projects.

Have Happy Holidays and stay awesome!
