I tend to keep quiet about the drafting process for all my stories, due to not wanting to get anybody's hopes up. There's never a guarantee of finish or of meeting a deadline, after all, and I work best in isolation.
That said, because I've been working on this story for, I believe, six or seven months now, it seems fair for me to start to bring the story out of the isolated drafting phase. Here is an image of the story's progress. I've spoiler-tagged it, in case you still want to be surprised:
Two chapters remain to be edited. Once that's done, I'll consolidate all of the chapters into a master document and do final copy-edits and proofing. Then, finally, Cammie will be ready for publication - assuming no large-scale edits are necessary. I am hoping to have this story ready by Thanksgiving week, if not December at the latest. We shall see.
That said, I hope you are as excited, even as nervous, as I am. It's been a very long time since I attempted anything that was novel-length, so I am aware that this story will have the smatterings of an undisciplined novelist, or at least one very much out of practice. But I am happy with the progress, and happy with the story. I hope, when it is ready, and when it is read, you all are happy with it, too.
But I'm in a good mood, so how about another teaser?
