Supplemental Information: Diamond Dogs · 4:55pm Aug 14th, 2013

Here's something I should have thought of before. There's a trope that everyone knows, if not by name then at least by reputation. All there in the manual. The idea is that in some works there are things not mentioned in the actual text, but in supplemental materials like other books/movies/comics/audio recordings and so on. As I have been led to understand this is common in Japan, with anime series relying on a

The Veil of Ignorance -and- Peasant Dreams · 5:37pm Aug 7th, 2013

The Veil of Ignorance is a philosophical concept formulated by John Rawls in his book A Theory of Justice, though the general idea has been around much longer and forms a large part of the general idea of the social contract. The idea of the veil works like this: when trying to organize a society or determine something to be done, morally speaking, parties must imagine they do not know the position they will occupy in society,

The Iron Law and the Waste -and- The Dominating Presumption · 9:13pm Jul 30th, 2013

The Iron Law of Institutions can be rendered in the most simple form thusly: A person would rather that an institution fail and they keep power in it than it succeed and they lose power in it. That is, if the company or organization crashed and burned but they got to keep on being Grand Supreme Illustrious Chief Executive Super-Poobah they would swill champagne-flavored caviar and dance in a pile of money as the misery of a

'Unless' vs 'Until' in formal language -and- Being a Douche · 10:17pm Jul 17th, 2013

If you ever receive formal training in certain subjects, such as literature, rhetoric or law, it becomes quite apparent that words, typically single words carefully considered and placed in particular areas, can be immensely powerful, perhaps more so than more 'significant' words used elsewhere. This does relate, in some way, to the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis or linguistic relativity, which says that words either nuance our world or

Bi-directional Socratic assistance -and- Missing the point of a fic · 4:47pm Jul 10th, 2013

In general, the Socratic method is a means of intellectual discussion between two people that involves questions passing between them, the answers to which will either illuminate new points or give rise to new questions. Usually it involves the defense or probing of a point of view, seeking contradictions and thus refining the point. Socratic questioning is a similar thing, more generally patterned to simply expand ideas and get to truths, in a systematic manner.

Sexualities of the Mane Six and others- My universe · 8:26pm Mar 20th, 2013

This is strictly fanon. It's about my own universe, which I'm actually starting to consider calling "The Spoiled Barrel" universe. One Bad Apple spoils a barrel, but that's 'spoil' as in indulge and give good things. You could trope it as 'Spoiled Sweet.' Granted, I made certain i took great heaping gobs of personality from the originals, but by the nature of being ongoing and interacting, changes and revelations are inevitable.

I am officially a terrible writer · 11:06am Feb 12th, 2013

It's true. I just found out. I lost the AppleDash contest. BADLY. So badly I didn't even get the bullshit juice box honorable mention prize. I'm not even worth honoring.

FML. Hard. I have to go buy some booze now, maybe invest in some punching bags.

Oh, and for the curious, yes this is genuinely upsetting. What else do I have but my writing? Let me have my self-loathing and rage. I have earned it with all the work I put into that piece of crap. It must be crap. I wasn't even mentioned.

Art Links · 9:28pm Jan 9th, 2013

I've been pretty reticent to post links to my FA page. But, I realize there's no real reason to hesitate.

First off, the most recent. Some art of side-characters. These two are Platinum Shine and Basalt. Seen in "My Fair Fair" and "It's Okay to stray". Basalt Shine and Platinum Shine

The cover art for "The Bad Apple Chronicles" was done by the artist Mitti, formerly known as Touch My Badger.
