There's nothing like it. I just played my first show opening up for a professional band with my jazz combo (if anybody remembers me saying that I was focusing on music and stuff, it's going well). We didn't get paid or anything, but I got 20% off of my food at the bar we were playing at, so technically I got paid $1.10 an hour for a half-hour of playing. It was awesome. But I'm not making this blog to brag about crap, but to announce that I'm going to write some more crap in the next few weeks.

I'm only writing this blog because of a blog that Regidar wrote recently. It talked about his trouble adjusting from his old image of a nirvana-obsessed crackfic writer to what I could only call an artist. There are still plenty of people who think of him as he was when I first met him in 2012. It reminded me of my current struggles, so I wanted to address them here.

So I spent a good three hours a day for the last week transcribing this song:

Because I'm going to play it on clarinet next month at this music showcase thingy at my school. It reminded me of two things I'd forgotten. First, that transcribing things from a concert-key polyphonic string instrument to a Bb key monophonic woodwind instrument is tedious, and secondly that Eric Johnson is one of the most gifted guitarists who has ever lived.
