Boulder has been living in the slums of Manehatten with his new identity and family. It's been a year and a half since the catastrophe in Canterlot and he can't face himself anymore. Boulder is adjusting to life in Ponyville, but just as tragedy brought him to the open hooves of his only friend Fluttershy, deception is pushing him away. He goes on a new geologic expedition to the Gem Mines beneath Canterlot, but his obsession with reflections gets to the best of him. Fluttershy must save Boulder before he descends into madness, and Boulder must decide whether his new friendship is worth giving up for a new start on life.

Boulder travels to Ponyville from Manehatten for a geological examination of the nearby feature, Ghastly Gorge. However disaster strikes the crew due to unexplainable geological processes. Boulder does what he can as a timid leader to save his fellow workers and his new friend as well as his guide from Ponyville, Fluttershy.
