The lie detecting spell is in the world, and although I do plan to implement it, it only goes so far. You can use the spell to tell if someone is lying or telling to truth, however you cannot get them to admit the truth with it if they are lying. However, mix torture, with a spell that tells when you are lying, and you have a way for torture to be the most effective way of gathering information from the enemy as they can't just say anything to get out of it.

Surprising or not, I found it to be an interesting premise for a story. On a world that undoubtedly has its own version of "veritaserum" or at least a spell to determine truth from lie, the Ponies of Equestria have likely never used torture extensively, if at all. Then along comes a human from a world that has no magic to it and Princess Celestia is curious as to what methods humans use to get information from suspected individuals. Of course, we all know that torture is quite useless as a means of gathering information, as the victim will say or do anything to get the torturer to stop. Still, it is an interesting story premise and I eagerly await for more.
