In which the Cutie Mark Crusaders see themselves all over again. Gabby's journey really reflected the girls' own journey in many ways: If we had a list for the all the things the CMC tried to get their Cutie Marks we would be here all night (Especially being Equestria's first and best Hair Metal band) and we know it. I appreciated that the episode's moral mostly came from Scootaloo: Even if it's impossible, it doesn't mean you can't reach it. That kinda broke my heart and yet filled me full of
In which Damocles23 laments there weren't any Daddy Duck or Bugs Bunny Jokes. A pretty low key episode overall. Very low key. Extremely low key...But I'm here to give you the bright side, after all: It plays off well with Rainbow and Applejack's character development. If previous episodes saw them push themselves off the edge this time they show that their attitudine applied to the msot mellow, easygoing ponies you can find doesn't apply too well. The ending of the episode makes it for me
I still think that Discord is his own antagonist. I mean, he really can't help it: The only pony that likes him encourages him to meet new people and then he throws them in another dimension. Remember Tree Hugger? There. Anyways, another fun episode that didn't go voerboard with nerdy references which, once in a while, I appreciate. The part just before the dimensional traveling actually captured the spirit of D&D (Sorry, O&Os...) more faithfully than any big budget adaptions could: Just
Who plays them around here? I was gathering some players for a Mutants and Masterminds game.
In which Spike understands that his worth as a person and a hero as to be acknowledged by first of all himself. It's no mystery that Spike's achievements during the show are getting more and more impressive even if he's always the lovable goofball and young, accident prone, hero we know and love. This was an episode that sheed some light over some Changeling Lore and I think it was fascinating: The normal changeling is not a mindless drone even if their primal appetite for love is a pretty
Basically, Mare do Well done well. Yeah, I know that comparisons were inveitable but hear me out about this. One of the fundamental rules of comedy is exaggeration. You have to go the extra mile if you want to make a joke or a prank work, at least in writing. Mare Do Well just wasn't funny! This episodes shows some classical screwball comedy the likes we came to expect from Castle-Mania or basically everything Pinkie Pie does. Her role as the counter prankster was absolutely perfect and props
...For about an hour. I mean, I know everything is impermanent but this is ridicolous.
In which three big sister become stage moms from Tartarus. I've never hid my love for the CMC episodes and I'm really, really trying to be disappointed by one. Seriously. But this time they showed us a simple, pretenseless episode, like the ones I prefer the most. It also shows one more subtle bit of characterizations among the Mane Six: All of them are painfully adamant about their convictions and way of life. Not just the characters we saw in this episode but you can see my point with
In which we find a Daring Do episode that Damocles23 likes. Let us start with the obvious and talk about how Quibble parrots the most unsatisfied members of the fandom, which I admit I'm part of. Sometimes. But who hasn't? His ramblings would be obnoxious but the performance comes as a playful jab than a mean spirited one. It's helped by the performance and the animation overall. Sometimes, the fanboy bashing goes a little voerboard but when you are part of a fandom you see its uglier side an,
