It's been HOW long? · 2:39am Sep 29th, 2014

Did season 4 really kick off almost 11 months ago?

:twilightoops:

I mean, I knew I was behind[1], but over a year behind hadn't really registered.

I'm going to put some serious effort into starting a livestream on Wednesday. (It wouldn't stay exclusive to Wednesday.)

When in 2015 is season 5 due to start, again?[2]

PSA: Attenuation on the Read Later · 11:41pm Sep 27th, 2014

I believe I now have proof that the Read Later list attenuates. That's all I know about it, but here is what I have.

A couple days ago (pretty sure it was Thursday) I trimmed my Read Later down to 1140.[1] Then I added HV's Leviathan[2], bringing me (obviously) to 1141. Today, I read Leviathan, and took it off. Afterwards I noticed I was now at 1139. But I'd only took off the one fic.

NatPoWriMo: BEGIN! · 2:19am Sep 2nd, 2014

It's September first as I write this, and that means NatPoWriMo has begun. For those who haven't heard of NatPoWriMo, it's the pony-fanfic version of NatNoWriMo.

For those who haven't heard of NatNo, the goal is to take a month--they use November--and write 50,000 words of a novel. Hectic.

In my opinion, the first one is the weakest of the lot. The others are all good.

panic! · 12:29pm Jul 13th, 2014

I awoke this morning to find my brain had concocted a rumor of FiMfiction. The rumor took the form of a "special edition google doodle", or however you'd call it. Presumably, it was only shown to some users. It had re-implemented the search on FiMfiction--yes, on google--and the descriptive text below it explained that it was to commemorate the passing of FiMfiction.net after some sort of massive comment war.

Luckily, that's not the case.

GitHub vs Penflip · 1:54am Jun 27th, 2014

Yes, this is a silly technical issue I shouldn't be worrying about with the amount I've been getting written.

Still: ficpushing to GitHub, or to Penflip?

"You want to be a writer?" · 1:45am Jun 9th, 2014

So
There's this writer
He's like, kind of a big deal in the writing world
But that's only important because he's been asked to speak at a writing conference
So he's at this conference
Where he's going to talk about being a writer
But before his bit
He goes and gets drunk
Not just a little drunk
Like really, totally, smashing drunk
Then he goes to his talk
He goes up on stage--
And it's obvious he's drunk
--He goes up on stage
And walks up to the microphone
And he goes

a snippet floats through the aether, searching for a scene to connect to · 2:41am May 20th, 2014

Twilight looked over the edge of the ziggurat and out across the jungle. "The ancients really liked their pyramid-type structures, didn't they?"

"Yes, they did," said Celestia, several paces ahead and clearly with no intention of stopping. "We never did figure that one out. My own followers had a thing for decorative columns."

"Oh," said Twilight. "Wait, what?"

Y'know something:

G1 would make an absolutely corking D&D setting if it weren't for all those stupid ponies cluttering the place up. I mean really: bushwoollies and an army's worth of dragons and those goblin thingies and a crazy old wizard guy who lives in a giant toadstool off in the woods.

Deus Ex WaitWaitWhat? · 4:00am May 16th, 2014

The other day, I was reading a review of Ponyfinder. (Because reasons.) In one of the comments, someone indirectly described the Elements of Harmony as a Deus Ex Machina. Which--to be fair--is absolutely true. But there's also more to it than that.
