Make Knuckles Pinkie Promise to not bail that well he cannot escape Pinkie wrath.

I'll definitely think of that when I write the next chapter. One thing that all of us bronies can agree on is you never break a Pinkie Promise or else you basically get it handed to you. It is not pretty.
Interesting. This is nice.

Not a brony, but no. In the actual show from what I have seen it has been broken at least once and nothing serious happen. This is one reason I am glad I stopped reading. I really hate this annoying trope where a character who you hype up to be overpowered and Knuckles here is one the most hyped up ones, feel dread when making this stupid child like promise. It's like what happened the knuckles you compared to a god in one of your first responses to me. To me the main draw to a story like that is seeing the OC kick some ass and seeing a stupid child like promise by a freaking adorable pink pony make them feel dread is pure aggravation. It's even worse when they are practically forced to make it by their so called friends. Friends don't make you do something against your will, especially something the fandom and them in fics treat as one of the worse things to break and will have serious consequences. With friends like that who needs enemies. The fandom for years have portrayed breaking a pinkie promise as the absolute worse thing you can do. Well, other than getting the overpowered stare that somehow in canon actually failed a few times to even working completely on literal gods like Discord. I know since I stopped reading you likely won't take this into consideration, but after I stumbled upon this again, I couldn't resist responding since it's something that really grinds my gears in fanfiction. Perhaps, I should have ignored it due to that, but then again there could be those still reading and will read in the future that feel the same way, so perhaps it was worth responding to.

I understand your frustrations with that sort of thing and I can see where you are coming from. Yes, friends should not make each other do something against their will, but friends also don't break promises either. That's the whole point of the Pinkie Promise in the first place, at least in my opinion. Sure, it's over the top, but that's how the creators wanted to do it for some reason. That's their problem, not mine. Also, Knuckles is not scared about Pinkie coming after him for breaking a promise because of his supernatural abilities, but he knows it's wrong to lie because one of the rules of his tribe is for a man to not lie or else he has no honor. So, even if hypothetically he broke a Pinkie Promise, he could still neutralize Pinkie with ease even if she went psycho serial killer mode. It might look like Knuckles has gotten soft, but he is still that stubborn individual that we have all become used to. Nothing about that will change.

Yeah, we don't have that much longer left in the story and I plan to have a nice ending to bowtie it all together. There are definitely big things in store for the next few chapters.

I think my main problem was the introduction to it was poorly handled. It was there in the introduction episode to force the conflict from being solved by the others telling and clearing things up between Rarity and Fluttershy. It's like to Pinkie not breaking a promise is more important than being upfront and clear things up with friends that could easily be cleared up. It's like the writers wrote themselves into a corner and needed a way to keep the conflict going until the end and just pulled it out of their ass.
That is no excuse to force the OC to make a promise, especially with one of that extent. It feels like they don't trust the OC on his own merits, so Pinkie will make you. How about a little give and take. Two wrongs don't make a right. If you want to do it, just have Knuckles decide to make it after learning about it. There problem solve and shouldn't be too hard.
The show creators or the creators of the various fics that do what I complained about?
Good. That was my main issue.

I can see what you're saying. It's just one of those things that the show's creators could have done better, but then again, the show was made for little girls anyways, so it's not like they cared about what some of us older folk had to say about it. As for Knuckles being forcefully being made to make a promise, could you tell me where that is in the story? I just want to make sure what part you are talking about so that I can give you a clear answer on it.
Also, when I meant creators, I meant the show's creators. They decided to design Pinkie the way she is back in 2010, so anytime I use it in the story, I'm simply passing it along. I wish there were certain things I could fix about her character, but I didn't create her, so it's not my place to go around Hasbro and change up a character that they currently own just to make it sound better to me. I have no say in the matter, so it is what it is.

The sad part about it is that is a common excuse to ignore bad writing, which sucks since if you are making a show intended to teach little girls good life lessons then you should be held to a higher standard and be very careful not to screw up.
Not saying he is. I am just suggesting that when and if he makes that promise he does decides to on his own. That's it. Just a suggestion. Not accusing you or the story of anything. When I said forcing the OC. I was speaking generally when other fics do that. If I was talking about your story I would have simply wrote Knuckles instead of OC.
Um... Yes you can. It's fanfiction you can totally change anything you want about Pinkie and people have. You are simply choosing not to due to this arbitrarily limitation you are putting on yourself. If you want to fix her character you can. Sure you might get people complaining about how different she is, but the story is already sort of an au anyway with Knuckles there, so feel free. Point is there is nothing stopping you from doing so, except you. If you rather keep her as close to canon as possible, fine, but don't act like you have no choice otherwise when you clearly do.

I see. Okay, I guess I might have some say in the matter of Pinkie, but there's not really much I can come up with when it comes to how Pinkie would behave if I were to change it. I don't want to change her too much because then she'll be unrecognizable and no one could tell who she was anymore. Also, I'm not purposely trying to do bad writing. I work very hard on these chapters and I make sure they are the best they can be. Is there things I can do better? Absolutely! We can all do stuff better than how we do it. That's the whole point of the comments section anyways; to tell me what I can do better about the story that way, you at least have a voice and representation on what goes into the story.
But at the same time, I'm going to make mistakes every now and then. It's part of sin nature. That doesn't excuse my actions, but that's what happens when you live in a fallen world. Plus, that's why you can always learn from your mistakes because it allows you to improve. All I'm saying is that no one is perfect and we're going to mess up from time to time, but we can take that and do everything we can to improve. That's how I see it. Feel free to disagree with me if you want.
One more thing is that I have definitely seen OCs be forced to make promises under the threat of Pinkie coming after them. I didn't want Knuckles to be that way. I wanted him to be different from the rest. He doesn't take forced promises. He only promises something if he knows he can trust you. If he doesn't trust you, he won't make a promise. He only does it by his own will, not by force, so thankfully, you won't have to see him be threatened by Pinkie to make sure he keeps a promise or else face consequences.

As a nonbeliever I agree we aren't perfect and it's great you are striving for improvement.
Glad to hear it.
