I loved it. It was a good, self-contained story without world-ending threats, or magical rainbow lasers. Just a good, character driven story.
Wonderful! Riveting from start to finish. Depthy characterizations and an intriguing plot. Good show, I say! ๐
How? These two had minimum interactions, I cannot fathom how this occurred.
I agree with Orrm here.
At this point Sunny has no reason to care about anon, and vice versa. They have had maybe 3-4 conversations counting this chapter and the last.
The sunny/anon ship is fine, I have no problem with it as a concept. But just to have 4 interactions- half of which ended poorly might I add- and then get together? This relationship is either going to end in disaster, or just continue to not make sense.
I know you know how to build a relationship, we've seen you do it in this story between with Izzy and Anon, so I'm completely confused to how this ended up like it did.
And the way you put it, you make it sound like Anon has been in love with her for a while but like. When?
The first week he pretty much hated her, and everyone else tbh, for bringing him back. Then anon stayed with Izzy for like another week or so. Then they came up with a plan to fix the airship, then he got kidnapped.
There has been no time for them to really speak and form something "on camera" for lack of a better term, much less off it.
Please dont take this as flame or anything, I am just really confused about the way its gone.
Wouldn't Izzy have been the better pony for this chapter's big moment?

Honestly this feels like a setup for the lyra thing" hes gonna cheat again but with izzy" just to make drama
What the fuck? Izzy is where itโs at!
Why Sunny? Like seriously?

The number of interactions isn't necessarily as important as the quality of the interactions. Every time Anon and Sunny talked, the conversation was usually very deep-rooted. Sure, Anon might've spent more time with Izzy, but it was almost always the two of them just fucking around and having a laugh. With Sunny though, they almost always poured their hearts out into their conversations.
Don't get me wrong here, going the Sunny route (heh) does seem like a bit of a head-scratcher, but if you look at the bigger picture, it does sort of make sense. All I'm saying is, the ship does have its merits, and does have grounds to off of.
I honestly like to think that, despite the flack about it not being Izzy, Sunny might be the best option for Anon in this story.
Not necessarily because of their interactions, but rather, because of their upbringing. They both have a bit more chemistry than even they realize.
For starters, they both were alone most of their lives. Anon because he's the only one of his species in this Equestria. And Sunny because her dad died.
(Movie Spoiler Below!)
For those who are unfamiliar with the Movie, her dad was the only one that believed in Magic, and that all ponies were once united. Though she carried the torch, he died when she was young. And yes, the movie canon makes it clear he's been dead for quite some time as hinted by the amount of dust and how faded his glasses were on his memorial desk.
This ship kinda reminds me of... Kirito and Asuna from Sword Art Online: Abridged. It's like an Unstoppable Force meets with an Unbreakable Wall. He's unable to stop himself from destroying things, and she's unable to break away from her beliefs.
(Sequel Spoiler Below. Don't read until you've read THAT one!)
Then the TRUE development happens when they find out the truth about Twilight in the next story. How his destructive tendencies, his last stand, and even the negative influence he had with Equestria's enemies, eventually brought the end of the Equestrian Monarchy. It was THAT bit of information that made he, the "Unstoppable Force", come to a complete halt once the reality of it all kicked in.
As for Sunny, when she learned the truth about her upbringing, and how she figured out that she was just a pawn to a Lich that was once her greatest hero, she broke away from everything she believed in, and decided to make her own mark in the world, without the need for Magic.
And she proved this when she gave away the stones.
And now, with all of that hardship coming to a closure, she and Anon both realized that, after all those challenges, the only one in the world that actually could understand them... is each other. And that's why, in the end, Sunny was the best choice for Anon, and Anon was the best choice for her.
Ngl Izzie does seem like the ideal ship for Anon, but it's not a dealbreaker. I could see the potential with Sunny even if the pairing came as abrupt. Anywho, I'll keep an eye on the sequels and see how they measure up. This really does seem like a series with much potential.

Hit the nail right on the head, bucko! Most readers don't really seem to pick up on the nuance of these two!
