In the year 2036 a large land mass appears in the Indian Ocean between Africa and Australia that is surrounded by a pink energy force field. This prompts the Council of Nations to authorise the creation of the XCOM project.
nicey done, loved how you made the mec trooper. they always rewminded me of the space marines of WH40l and th super soldiers of Wolfenstein the new order
The first and last mech soldier I made I was filled with horror at the emotionless robotic voice. I gave her mercy and I have to stamp down the desire to kill my chief engineer each time he mentions mechs. I prefer him to the science head even still.
I hate the game for it always leaves me dirty inside.
10971969 I love MECs with all my heart for what they bring to the battlefield in terms of offensive and defensive options (especially in Long War), but they require a lot of sacrifices feon the soldier that undergoes the operation.
Still, the memory of my Goliath MEC absorb two Sectopod shots in one turn, while halfing the damage due to DR makes it worth it.
Plus the soldiers get a bigger paycheck, so i doubt that they mind it.
10971994 Idk, og Bradford seems like a cool guy to be friends with. Plus he supposedly takes care of communications, logistics e.t.c.
Vahlen is the one i can kind of aggree on, but i love that woman in all her terrifying glory. Although i still have no clue what she was thinking during Alien Hunters DLC.
I think Firaxis made an oopsie with Shen when they were making the Enemy Within. In EU, he rightfully made a comment about following the alien's footsteps. I believe they had to retconn in in the DLC, iether cutting out the line entirely, or changing it a bit. Either way, i think the old man means well, because with the enemies you encounter in EW (taking long war into account) MECs don't seem that bad of an idea.
I did not expect to find a crossover between XCOM and Negotiations and I must admit that so far the story does not disappoint. However, I must say that I was not convinced that you introduced the Aliens to the conflict, I feel that it would have been better if the conflict had only been between XCOM and Equestria, and that the story was an alternative continuation species to XCOM Enemy Unknown / Whitin but that's just my opinion.
On the other hand, I have had some doubts. Is XCOM ever going to develop firearms that fire beams of magic (through reverse engineering) capable of pulverizing the enemy?
What if a Chryssalid infects an earth pony, unicorn, or pegasus? Would Chryssalids come out of their bodies with the characteristics of said ponies?
Will XCOM ever develop soldiers with magical abilities? I mean, if XCOM has soldiers with Psionic abilities, they could create a laboratory to create soldiers with magical abilities.
10979696 Thank you very much for the kind words! I'm happy to hear that the story did not dissappoint! This whole idea came to my head during a nightly binge reading of Negotiationverse, so forgive me if some things look wierd. I just really wanted to see what would happen if humanity was besieged by both genocidal equines, and atrophied space.
Shen's been hard at work trying to employ magic in the construction of firearms. The first attemps bore some fruits, but the intense heat of the spell melted the barrel. With the introduction of [DATA REDACTED] acquired from the invaders led to [DATA REDACTED]. With the development of laser weaponry these reverse engineering attemps are temporarily halted due to their impracticality.
Perhaps he'll have better luck with enchantments?
Chryssalids work much in the same way other slimy scary space chest busting aliens work, by appropriating certain traits from their victims. For example, if a chryssalid chews up, let's say a muton, the result would be a bulkier, harder to kill version of everyone's favourite bug. But they don't inherit personality traits.
I do have a certain way magic behaves in regards to psionics, but let's leave that question to Vahlen and her team, shall we?
10979993 I think you misunderstood regarding the question I asked you about the Chryssalids, let me explain. For example, if a Chryssalid infects a unicorn, the Chryssalid that will come out of the unicorn's body would have the ability to use magic, albeit in a more primitive way? For example: shoot magic rays, move things using magic, etc.
Regarding the question of magic firearms, I understood that in the canon of Negotiations-verse, humans managed to create a kind of magic rifle that can disintegrate the enemy leaving only ashes.
Here I have another question that I forgot to write, do you plan to include EXALT in the story?
10980013 I understood your question quite well. If a chryssalid inherits certain traits from its victims, what's stopping it from doing so with ponies? We'll just have to wait and see.
Yes, in the canon of Negotiationverse humans, with the help of collaborating ponies, did develop disentigrating laser weapons. However, i believe that these weapons weren't easy to develop or produce. As any kind of prototype, earlier weapons of this kind had problems with overhearing, battery life ect. Due to the alien invasion, XCOM got its hands on [DATA REDACTED], which solved the heating problem, but presented another issue: Magic doesen't play nice with [REDACTED]. By the time magic laser weapon prototypes were in working condition, XCOM was already equipped with lasers of their own, which are easier and cheaper to manifacture.
I do plan to have a large organisation collaborating with aliens.

sadly in this version Twilight won't be able be friends with the xcom team... shame really

They are monsters. Everyone but the soldiers.
