Interesting. Not the first instance of Equestria as post-apocalyptic Earth I've seen, but making Celestia and Luna literal avatars of the sun and moon is a compelling twist.
As for Krysta, I guess you get to be royalty when you're the last of your kind. Rather bittersweet, that, especially when it doesn't exempt you from public education.
3364497 The first chapter, and "until we can send you home" gave every indication she wasn't from our earth, but some version stuck in the Medieval Period, especially given that it was an explicitly referenced feudal system and she professes polytheism. Also speaking pure English at that time isn't really a thing either.
The post-apoc setting really does the story no favors though. Its pretty apparent that they're only imitating modern ethics and philosophy in the most shallow sense. The rest of the exposition just makes me for once hope for a sudden villainous "twist".
so is Krysta going to become a pony later in the story?
for in the grim darkness of the far future there is only ponyes

Hmm... What do I think?...
Well, as you said, all this exposition
Good enough chapter. Explains a lot.

Not sure yet...
I'll have to see what you do with it.
Well she forgot about her family pretty quickly.
