Part 7: Tommy’s Backstory - Mighty Morphin’ to In Space

“Who are you? Why did you come here? How did you even know where we were? Who sent you here? And why did you rescue us at the last minute?!” Rainbow Dash asked, wanting to know how the new teen came to rescue them from such certain fate.

“That’s the first question I’ve heard all day!” The teen said. The heroes turned to him as they wanted to what he was doing here and why he came to save them too. He turned to the heroes that were in this room. “Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Tommy Oliver. If you’re not me, them something is seriously wrong. What I’m about to tell you is very top secret...only to be revealed in case of an emergency.” The heroes were shocked at this new teen telling them such classified information. They didn’t know where he was going with this...but they decided to keep listening. “What I’m about to tell you...is a history of my life.” He said.

Rainbow Dash was a little uninterested as she yawned. “More Dinosaur egghead bone stories...Yawn.” She said. Twilight gave her an angry glare. She noticed and quickly paid attention.

Tommy finished his sentence. “My history...as a Power Ranger.” He said.

This made Rainbow’s ears flicker up as she just heard that Tommy would tell her and the others his history as a legendary Power Ranger. She decided to listen and listen good as were the others as they were all interested in what he had to say. “Okay...” she said fully interested. “Start.”

“My story begins in Angel Grove.” Tommy started, revealing his backstory. “...when five teenagers with attitude were recruited to fight the evil space sorceress, Rita Repulsa. They harnesses the power of the dinosaurs and became Earth’s first Power Rangers...who just battled Lord Tirek earlier today.”

The heroes were shocked that the very first team of rangers had arrived in Equestria to defeat Lord Tirek and save the pillars. “Whoa!” Twilight said in shock! “The first team you told us about...they defeated Tirek? Earlier today?!” She was surprised that they were here to save Equestria from certain magic draining disaster.

“Hold on!” Rainbow Dash said. “The very first team of Power Rangers arrived here in Equestria earlier to take down Tirek and save the pillars?!” She was shocked that they even came here today and excited that they were the first ever team of Power Rangers! “Ohmygosh Ohmygosh Ohmygosh Ohmygosh Ohmygosh!”

“That’s right.” he said to them. “They did. Under the guidance of intergalactic being, Zordon, Trini, Zack, Kimberly, Billy and Jason bravely defended Earth a long time ago...which forced Rita to create her own ranger.”

When evil space sorceress Rita Repulsa was released from her dumpster prison, Zordon (an intergalactic being of tremendous power) and his robotic assistant Alpha 5 recruited five teenagers with attitude to become the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers in order to fight her forces and save the world. By harnessing the power of the dinosaurs Jason Lee Scott, Zack Taylor, Billy Cranston, Kimberly Ann Hart and Trini Kwan fought off all her monsters. Eventually, Rita decided to make her own Ranger.

“Okay...so where exactly do you come in, Tommy?” Rainbow Dash asked confused and excited that she wanted to hear more Power Rangers and wanted to find where Tommy came into play in all this.

“Right here.” Tommy said, pointing to a part in his video diary. “I was introduced as the new kid at Angel Grove High School.”

Tommy Oliver was the newest kid at Angel Grove High School who was captured by Rita and placed under an evil spell.

“Her evil magic was too strong.” Tommy narrated. “I couldn’t fight it. She commanded my to destroy the Power Rangers.” he continued. “...and I almost succeeded.”

Transformed into the Green Ranger, he fought against and almost destroyed the Power Rangers but was released from the spell when his Sword of Darkness was destroyed.

“But my friends never gave up.” Tommy narrated. “They helped me destroy the Power Sword, and I was freed. And that’s when I joined the team.” Tommy continued his backstory. “But not for long. I soon discovered that the green ranger powers were only temporary.”

He then joined the other Rangers in their battle against Rita but the Green Ranger powers turned out to be limited.

As a result, Zordon renewed his powers and he rejoined the team as the White Ranger...

“Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!” Rainbow Dash said in shock as she couldn’t believe hearing that Tommy’s green ranger powers were only limited. “Your green rangers were only temporary at the time?! Why couldn’t they have been permanent like the others were? We saw you as that ranger earlier when you fought Chrysalis, Tirek, Cozy and the other villains!”

“At that time, I lost my powers.” He told her. “But luckily, I was restored as a new sixth ranger...the white ranger, harnessing the power of the white tigerzord. I DID get those powers back...but we’ll get to that later.”

Rainbow gawked out in excitement as she just heard her answer. “Awesome!” She said, smiling and wiggling at all this.

“A new villain...Lord Zedd...was destroying Earth.” Tommy continued his story. “...and with 3 rangers leaving, a new power source had to be found. Trini, Zack & Jason passed on their powers to Rocky, Adam & Aisha...& the 3 new rangers stepped forward.”

A new villain named Lord Zedd arrived to try and take over the Earth himself. When Jason, Zack and Trini were leaving to attend a Peace Conference, three new Rangers were selected and they passed on their powers to Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park and Aisha Campbell.

“And just in time, because Rita & Zedd teamed up to form our most powerful enemy yet...and brining with them, a new terror...Rito Revolto.” Tommy continued. “The new team fought bravely, but it wasn’t enough. Rito destroyed our zords.” The heroes gasped at the shocking news of what happened to their zords in the past!

However the new team were forced to face massive odds when Rita and Zedd teamed up. Later, Rita's brother Rito Revolto arrived and managed to destroy the Rangers' Zords and powers.

“But, a ranger never gives up.” he told them. “Zordon sent us on a quest to find Ninjor...a warrior from the past who showed us the secrets of the ancient Ninja! Our quest was complete! We gained new zords, new powers, & new enemies.”

Never giving up, the Rangers sought out Ninjor and were granted new Ninja powers.

“But along with new enemies...” Tommy continued. “...came new friends. When Kimberly chose to leave, Katherine was the only choice. Katherine assumed the Pink Ranger power...and just in time!”

Later, a new girl named Katherine Hillard arrived in town. After proving herself to the Rangers, Kimberly selected her as her replacement when she left Angel Grove to take up gymnastics full-time.

“Later on, a new villain...Master Vile used a destructive weapon called the Orb of Doom to turn back the time of everyone on Earth, turning us all into kids.” Tommy continued his story. “We couldn’t morph or contact Zordon as a result...the Alien Rangers of Aquitar came and defeated Master Vile.”

The Alien Rangers were summoned to Earth by Zordon after the Earth Rangers were rendered powerless and transformed into children by Master Vile, acting as Earth's replacement Ranger team.

“While the Alien Rangers were saving the Earth, we split up to different parts of the world to find the Zeo Crystal...a special artifact that would help reverse our age as kids and reverse Master Vile’s destruction.” Tommy told them.

With the reunited Zeo Crystal in the hands of good, Billy used a device he constructed powered by the crystal itself to reverse Master Vile's time spell.

The others wowed in excitement at how the alien rangers stopped Master Vile’s plan to destroy Earth and reverse the time on that planet. “And just in time too.” Tommy continued. “We were under attack! We got out as soon as Rita and Zedd destroyed the Command Center. Beneath the ruins, we found the reassembled Zeo Crystal and it guided us to the next chapter of our lives as Rangers.”

Later, Rita and Zedd struck a massive blow when they managed to destroy the Rangers' Command Center. Luckily the Rangers had a new power source with the Zeo Crystal. With their new powers and abilities, Tommy, Adam, Rocky, Katherine and new Yellow Ranger Tanya Sloan became the Power Rangers Zeo and fought against a new enemy; the evil Machine Empire with Zordon, Alpha and a now-retired Billy providing assistance.

“The Zeo powers were awesome!” Tommy told the heroes, making them ooh in excitement. “But when we needed reinforcements, we turned to an old friend. Jason returned and assumed the power of the gold ranger.”

When the attacks got more and more powerful the Rangers turned to an old friend and made Jason the Gold Zeo Ranger.

“So, what happened next, Tommy?” Applejack asked. She wanted to know more of the story.

“Well, Applejack...” Tommy told her. “I’m glad you asked. After high school graduation, we were ready to face the world...but not before going on one last adventure as rangers. It was time to shift into a higher gear!” The mane six ooohed and aaaahhhed at this next part of the story that was to come next. The next chapter that would be...Turbo! “The old rangers were gone forever.” Tommy told them. “But the Turbo Rangers were born! A space pirate named Divatox launched her attack on Earth! We were given the powers of Turbo, and took her head on...with a little bit of help.”

As the Rangers graduated high school and embarked on a new chapter of their lives, they also embarked on a new journey as Power Rangers when they were granted the Turbo Powers to fight against the space pirate Divatox. Soon the team had new powers, new zords and a new Blue Ranger, Justin Stewart.

“T.J, Cassie, Ashley & Carlos proved they had what it takes.” Tommy told them. “And they became the new Turbo rangers...taking Katherine’s, Tanya’s, Adam’s and my place on the ranger team.”

Later, it was decided that Tommy, Adam, Kat and Tanya should be allowed to leave and follow their dreams, and they selected new Rangers to take over; T.J. Johnson, Carlos Vallerte, Ashley Hammond and Cassie Chan had already proven themselves to have what it takes and the four joined Justin to become the new Power Rangers Turbo...

The heroes were shocked at the news that the 4 Zeo rangers gave their powers to new allies who later became rangers on the team. “So, then...what happened exactly?” Applejack asked him. “What happened you y’all after you left the team?”

“Yeah!” Rainbow said in agreement. “What DID happen to you when you left? Did you have a special path to pursue? What?”

Tommy chuckled. “I believe there will be time to get back to me later on in the story.” He told them. “For now, listen to this.” The heroes were still listening in in the story that Tommy was telling them.

“Divatox was tough.” Tommy continued. “...and the Piranhatrons were relentless. Divatox wasn’t ready to give up and staged a fearsome attack, taking out the Turbo Rangers’ command Center and their powers with it! She headed for space and Earth’s ultimate destruction! The ranger knew they had to follow Divatox into space, and embarked on the most dangerous mission...leaving behind the world they knew forever.”

Divatox staged a huge attack on the Rangers' Power Chamber, managing to destroy it and the Turbo Powers forever. She then was recalled into space, and the Rangers decided to follow her leaving Earth and Justin behind.

The heroes all gasped in horror when Tommy told them about Divatox’s Chase into space. “FOREVER!” Pinkie Pie jumped up and blurted out, further scaring the rest of the ponies...and a few of the rangers.

Twilight and Applejack grabbed her to keep her in control. “Pinkie!” Twilight said with seriousness in her voice.

“The journey into space was treacherous.” Tommy continued. “...and the line between friend and foe was broken. Andros proved he was more than a friend, and was the kind of leader they would need to find a new enemy...an enemy called Astronema! They thought they had no hope, but Andros gave them the Astro Morphers, bringing forth a new team!”

They soon came across the Astro Megaship and an unfamiliar Red Ranger, Andros , who was in the middle of his own fight against Astronema, the Princess of Evil. Eventually allowing the others to join him and become a team, Andros proved himself to be the perfect leader of the Power Rangers in Space

“The Space rangers freed Zhane from his deep freeze and the Silver Ranger was a noble addition to the team!” Tommy told them bravely with determination in his voice.”Together, they defeated Astronema, and the Earth was safe!”

After releasing the Silver Ranger, Zhane, from his deep sleep they managed to defeat Astronema and destroy all the attacking forces of evil.

The heroes took in one big “Ooooh” at hearing Tommy’s ranger backstory about the first years of his life, to the time the rangers met an ally in Space. They couldn’t believe their ears after what they heard.

“So, even after you left the team, there STILL were rangers?” Rainbow Dash asked in excitement. “And the Turbo Rangers met a red ranger from SPACE?!” She jumped in glee as she wiggled in excitement. “Awesome!”

“Now, don’t get too excited, Sugarcube.” Applejack told her. “Ah bet there’s more ranger story telling fun for you to hear once Tommy’s ready to continue.”

“I can’t believe there were legendary rangers that came BEFORE the Beast Morpher Rangers even existed!” Twilight said in shock and awe. “I mean...how in Equestria did they even had what it takes to be a ranger? And how did they get their new powers? There’s still so much to figure out! It's all happening so fast!” She started to hyperventilate in a paper bag when Applejack stopped her. “Oh, wow. It's like you knew I was going to react this way?”

“Yep.” Rainbow Dash said. “Classic "Twilight-ing".”

“You... You made me a verb?” Twilight asked her friend as she put a hoof on her cheek in worry and stress.

“We’ll talk about your stress later.” Tommy told the princess of Friendship. “Right now, we gotta cover the next part of my ranger story, taking place in a new distant world.”

Rainbow Dash was shocked. “You mean...” she asked. “That the story doesn’t stop here?? And that it takes place in a new world?”

“Not exactly.” Tommy said. “A new Galaxy.”

The wonderbolt’s eyes widened. “A new galaxy?!” She asked as she beamed with joy!

“That’s right.” Tommy said to her. “They story’s far from over. The next part of this story takes place in a whole new galaxy called...Terra Venture!”
