chapter 2: Little White Tails

Rainbow Dash gaped in the mirror with horror printed on her face. She couldn’t believe that fact she was now some cute looking deer and shouted, “what the buck! How could this happen to me!?”

Rainbow Dash looked around at with fury in her eyes and ran at Santa shouting, “you did this to me fatso change me back now!

Santa couldn’t help but chuckle seeing the tiny deer with her stubby tail pointing in the air trying to act freighting. The big red guy held up a hand and explained, “calm down little one there’s no need to get flustered. Trust me, there’s a reason for this and I’m not trying to do anything to you.”

Rainbow Dash pouted as she sat down in the hay “you’ve done enough to me already. But there’s no way I’m doing anything until you turn me back to normal.”

Sanat shook his head, “no we have a deal, you pull the sleigh tonight or there’s no way you can get back home until we can get my sleigh up and running.”

Rainbow Dash screamed and bucked the wall with her hind legs until she was panting and shouted with irritation in her voice. “Fine! Let's just get this over with then! But you better turn me back to normal before we reenter Equestria there’s no bucking way I’m going to let my friends see me like this!”

Santa gave another nod of agreement and consented, “of course, I wouldn't have it any other way.” He then took off the bridle and lead her through the stables. As the two walked down the hay covered lane. Rainbow Dash was squeaking as she stumbled along with her hooves. They were so much lighter and she felt so clumsy walking around on these stilt-like legs of her. She even felt a sudden cold breeze whip through the stables and squeaked trying to use her tail to cover her flanks. But it was too no avail as she whined, “gosh, why do you deers have such small tails!”

Donner who was watching just burst into laughter,” ya look like a foal just learning how to walk.” Rainbow Dash grew red in the face as she stumbled over shouting, “oh yeah say that again!” But as she was going to attack Donner, she squeaked as the mare slipped on an ice patch and slide across the ground scraping the ground with no avail. She ended up smashing into a pile of hay spraying the feed everywhere with an embarrassed look on her face. Donner stomped about and roared with laughter. Santa eventually came over rolling his eyes. “Okay that’s enough, come on Rainbow Dash we don’t have much time. I’ll have our instructor comet teach you the basics in movement and flight, hopefully, from there you can get a hang of this.”

Rainbow Dash just gave a defeated sigh as she got up looking down at the wooden planks not wanting to give Donner the satisfaction of seeing her defeated. She was then led outside to see other young reindeer frolicking about or flying through the air in teams. Comet a strong buck with a baseball cap on his head with a whistle wrapped around his neck came over to see Rainbow Dash. With one look at the young looking reindeer wobbling about on her legs he scoffed, ”So this young filly is going to lead our team this year!? Surely Santa, I should be the one considering she cost us almost our entire team.”

Rainbow Dash was going to snap at him but Santa spoke first as he gave a nod, “yes, this young filly is quite capable of leading my team. Her name is Rainbow Dash and she saved her land of Equestria twice and is the only creature I know that can pull off a Rainboom. But she was just turned into a reindeer so she needs a handle on the basics first.”

Comet suddenly burst into laughter and wheezed, ”ya mean like walking? Seriously? I ain’t no babysitter Santa.”

Rainbow Dash looked up and stuck her tail up in the air looking steamed. “I’m not a baby I’m a full-grown Pegasus who could kick all of your rumps in a race any day of the week! Now, how about ya shut up and teach me how to fly!”

Comet was a bit stunned at Rainbow Dash’s tenacity and mumbled, “alright…I guess you got fire I like that.”

Santa gave a nod and finished, “Now I need to oversee the repairs on my sleigh. By the time I return I expect Rainbow Dash to be fully trained and ready to lead understand?”

Comet gave a bow and grumbled, “As you wish Santa.” The fat red man then hobbled away towards his castle. When he was out of sight Comet looked Rainbow Dash over gagging her age and build.“Well if what Santa says about ya being one of the fastest pegasi in Equestria then you'll catch on fast. Now, first of all, this shouldn’t be any different than when you were a horse.”

Rainbow Dash spat back. “I was a pony, not a horse.”

Comet rolled his eyes as he turned to see his class now just frolicking about and goofing off as he scoffed,” I don't have time for this. Just try to get used to walking while I get these young bucks into shape, got it?”

Rainbow gave a nod and mumbled, “yeah I got it.”

Comet flew off shouting orders at his other young bucks. While Rainbow Dash carefully began to walk in the snow getting used to her reindeer body. It was difficult, and she wobbled, and her movements were really stiff. But eventually, she got the hang of it and continued to get used to her new legs. As she wobbled through the snow Rudolph came over hobbling with one of his legs in a cast. He just left the hospital and was curious about this “Rainbow Dash.” As he came over a snowbank he spotted the young mare struggling to walk through the snow with her tail straight up in the air for balance showing off her flank which had a cute puff of white fur. Rudolph blushed as he slowly trotted through the snow and asked, ”Hey uh, can I give you some advice?”

Rainbow Dash leaped into the air with a squeak as she plopped down onto her rump again, she groaned and smashed a hoof into the snow. “Ugh! Thanks a lot, jerk you just messed me up!”

Rudolph blushed as he waved a hoof. “I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you fall.”

Rainbow Dash just gave an exasperated sigh and as she got up growled: “no I'm sorry, it's my fault.”

She continued to waddle through the snow with her tail up in the air. Rudolph couldn't help but admire the pristine white fur under the blue and whispered, “nice flanks”

Rainbow Dash had red spots glowing on her cheeks as she immediately shoved her tail down over her rump and shouted, “stop staring you pervert!”

He blushes and turned away his nose glowing red he skipped over and asked, “so uh look here let me help.”

He steadied himself as he let his back legs sink a little. “Just do that first to stabilize yourself.”

Rainbow Dash gave a nod as she proceeded to do the same and scrunched down into the snow.

Then Rudolph assisted in out in one hoof in front of the other. “Just like so.” Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes but followed like suit she did notice that Rudolph's right foreleg was in a cast and she whispered, “I’m so sorry for what happened…”

Rudolph waved a hoof. “It's no big deal, I know it's not your fault. I actually saw you and I was going to see if you needed help. But I was going a lot faster than I intended.”

Rainbow Dash then shoved a hoof into his nose. “Your the one to blame for all this!”

Rudolph blushed as he stepped back. “Seriously, I apologize for that. I'll help you learn to lead Santa's team and anything else for that matter.”

Rainbow Dash looked at the reindeer with a sincere look on his face and sighed seeing she crashed hundreds of times. “Well...I mean that's understandable.”

Rudolph gave a nod. “Yeah so anyways how about I teach ya how to fly seeing you got walking down?”

Rainbow Dash looked down and sighed, “ok, so what do we do first?”

Rudolph stood up with a smile on his face and explained, “let's start with take off. Now you need to bound at least twice before flying into the air. Once your up fly for a little and then come back down.”

Rainbow looked up into the sky and positioned herself. The more lowered her body and took two huge leaps before taking off into the air. The light deer squealed as she started flying without wings. The mare kicked about feeling weightless and tumbled around squealing, “this is so weird!”

Rudolph chuckled before he shouted, “its okay you did a great lift off! Now just come down!”

The mare nodded a little as she continued to float about l kicking her legs as she struggled to get her bearings. But, she only succeeded in tumbling about even more to all the young bucks below. They were all giggling and blushing as she gently flapped back down completely confused and embarrassed then she suddenly plopped down into the snow making all the bucks burst into laughter. Rudolph came over and nuzzled her. “Aww, that's ok that's pretty good for a first try. Next time don't be so shocked and calm yourself while flying.”

She just got up with a determined look and growled: “I’ll do it again just watch me.” The mare positioned her body and vaulted into the air. Rainbow Dash did a better job gaining momentum and being able to speed through the air this time shouting in delight. But she was going way to fast and ended up crashing straight into a snowbank. As the powdery snow settled Rainbow Dash had half her body stuck in the snow with her small tail raised with her flank sticking out. Every buck around burst into even more laughter attracting Comet who came over shouting at the young bucks again. All Rainbow Dash could do was blush a deep red in her cheeks knowing that everypony could see her flanks. She eventually broke free from the snowbank and bounded back through the snow determined to fly. She took tao big leaps and shoot off again and zoomed through the air. Every buck around watched with amazement and astonishment sending Rainbow whizzed through the air. The mare smirked sensing the bucks who were laughing at her now watched with jealousy as she slammed back down into the snow spraying it over them making her laugh as she bounded over to Rudolph and asked, “I can fly now, so what's next for me?”

Rudolph just shook his head and explained, “you're going to need to keep on practicing. You got the basics down but you need to work on your landings. If you did that with Santa's sleigh it could end up being smashed into the ground.”

Rainbow Dash gave Rudolph a glare as she stomped a hoof in the snow. “oh, so you think I can’t handle myself huh? Well, I'll tell you what buster within an hour I’ll be flying and landing better than any snot-nosed Reindeer.”

Rudolph scoffed in disbelief, “oh yeah how about a bet? If you can’t learn how to fly perfectly within an hour. You’ll have to wear a pink Santa costume when you lead the team tonight.”

Rainbow shouted back, “well if you lose! I want you to crash on purpose and give us a good look at your flanks!”

Rudolph's nose went bright red at the notion of doing such an embarrassing thing but stuck out a hoof.“ it’s a deal.” Rainbow shook the hoof and growled, ”Just watch me buster.” She then zoomed back into the air with a sudden burst of energy and Rudolph just watched as he chuckled, “She is a fiery one.”

Rainbow dash as predicted practiced for an entire hour and successfully flew at a breakneck speed and then successfully landed back onto the ground gently as if she was a feather. With her head held high Rainbow proclaimed. “See, I told ya I can do it. Now, how about ya give me a look at those flanks of yours.”

Rudolph was stunned at how fast Rainbow Dash mastered flying without her wings and exclaimed, “You really did it!? I’m impressed you went above and beyond my expectations.”

Rainbow scoffed, “yeah, yeah, stop stalling it's now time for your spectacular feat!”

Rudolph squealed as his nose shined again and he gulped preparing himself as he grumbled, “A bet, is a bet.” He then bounded off and flew through the air with a bit of a struggle with his broken leg. But he eventually got the hang of it. Rudolph continued to fly until he spotted the same snowbank Rainbow Dash crashed in. The reindeer hovered over the snow aiming for the right moment and dived down and slammed into the snow sticking his rump out showing off his white furry bottom. Every buck around jeered and laughed as Rainbow Dash herself fell to the ground rolling around the snow in tears. Rudolph’s nose turned so red it shined through melting the snow melting it all into a puddle as he got up still blushing and stammered. “the-t-there, satisfied!”

Rudolph came up and scoffed, “you had the gall to tell me my flanks were fat, you look like as if you ‘ve been eating nothing but cookies, and candy canes up here.”

He gave a small blush and shrugged as he casually explained, “what can I say, it’s not like there’s much else in the north pole.” They continued to walk away towards the training grounds where she saw eight bucks strapped to a practice sleigh as Rudolph proudly explained, “these guys are the replacement team, now my dad and Comet weren’t in the crash and will be coming along, but for the others they're pretty inexperienced.”

Comet came over and shouted, “that's right, now Rainbow I saw your performance and have to say your probably the most gifted reindeer I have ever seen. I think you were made to be on Santa's team. However, you’ll be just right of me as I go through the instructions on how to get through this understand?”

Rainbow was going to say something but Rudolph intervened with a nervous disposition knowing how blunt Comet can be and quickly exclaimed, “yeah we understand sir!”

He gave a nod of approval. “Well good, now Rainbow dash come on I’ll hitch you up.”

Rainbow Dash growled but stomped over and let comet hitch her to the sleight to the lead position and shouted, now you all will follow me understand! Follow my lead and Rainbow you pay close attention.”

Rainbow rolled her eyes, “whatever, let's just get this over with.” Donner gave a nod as he sailed off with rainbow close behind as he watched and learned from Comet.
