Quick note on the lines previous to the above quote, is that a setup for a hero sacrifices himself to save the world cliche?
So, adorable!
Cool chapter!
PS: Make a Guns N Roses reference next chapter!
Hello! I have this on my 'to-read' list, and I just wanted to note the 'Comedy / Tragedy' tag combination. Many people use this tag combination to indicate that a story has both happy and sad moments, as Comedy precludes Sad and vis versa.
The issue with this, however, is that the Tragedy tag is meant to indicate a story is a Tragedy. A Tragedy features the main character or roles eventually coming to a 'bad end', such as a hero failing at just the last mmoment, or darkness prevailing. Romeo and Juliet is perhaps the most iconic tragedy when most people hear the term. Yes, their end did result in peace between the two families, but the main plot being told was a love story, which met a bad end. A story merely containing elements which are tragic, however, is not necessarily a tragedy.
What this tag combination would indicate, therefor, is that the protagonist is intended to fail, die, or otherwise come to ruin, and yet it is intended to be funny. These are commonly known as black comedies and an example might be Dr. Strangelove.
If a story has many happy and sad moments, that does not require a specific tag. Instead, consider them as intended to indicate the overall tone of the story. Is this happier than sad? Sadder than happy? If it's just living life, then that's what the Slice of Life tag is for, or Drama, which as a genre indicates a serious mood and realistic characters undergoing growth, and emotional struggles stemming from issues.
TL;DR: Tragedy tags are intended as a warning that a story is going to end badly for the main character(s). Combined with 'Dark', that means your story could be anything from dieing in the wasteland in Fallout Equestria to Cupcakes. Appropriately tagging your stories helps pickier readers find -- or avoid -- stories they would enjoy.

a vary good slice of life chapter.
Nice, though I really think Matt should have taken care of the rift as soon as he arrived in Jacksonville before going home. Time is of the essence, the sooner the rifts are closed the better.
