Mankind has finally reached the stars and is now attempting to reach other systems in the galaxy. What will happen when one man finds himself stuck, unable to return home, on a strange new world with talking ponies?
I feel like Radel might be going too far, by offering to turn human military resources against the ponies' enemies like this.
The ponies saved his life, and have been gracious hosts, so I can understand him wanting to help them. There's definitely a solid foundation for a diplomatic alliance between the two species, but he's dangerously close to committing to a formal military alliance with one species, and a war against another, and he only just met both. That just seems like he's way overstepping his authority.
Then again, the changelings have given him reason to treat them as hostile, and given the nature of his mission, it would make sense for him to be trained and authorized to exercise a great deal of autonomy, while he's far from home.
Hmm, so he has a limited form of matter fabrication on his ship, while also possessing at least some form of mass or matter to turn into useful equipment. So, he can sell human tech to who ever he wants, use the money to buy more metal, wood, or what have you, produce better quality versions tuned for the local environment, and meanwhile teach at least the ponies how to make the tools to make the tools to make the tools, etc., to fix his ship eventually. Good system for him to wind up operating a fairly large business empire.
6104529 Well he doesn't really require any resources. The maintenance drones and ships posses various forms of tools using nanotechnology to re-replicate necessary materials for repairs. For simple things like hull and structure it takes little time. But for more complex things like consoles or conduits, the time required for repairs takes more time. But he could do something like that with his technology, yes.
6104207 Well, I think sharing the use of communication technology and the use of these sensor arrays does little in terms of military. Now if he started giving every pony a laser turret on their back he'd be helping their military. We'll see if things ever come to that.
6105315 So, essentially, he still needs to buy the base materials to be then used to create the nano machines,to create the equipment, to sell to buy more materials to make better quality nano machines, and to make more things to sell, and repeat until his AI is the most commonly interacted with piece of technology on the planet, which can affect the whole planet with simple communication alone. Nano machines are not a valid instant win button for technology.
6105337 Indeed, true they need resources, but not as much as normal from what I understand of the technological theory. Not almost nothing but definitely less due to the ability for it to more efficiently use said resources.
6105328 Feeding the ponies military intelligence is potentially a bigger game changer than arming them, after all what good is a laser gun, if you don't know where to point it?
Right now, the ponies are playing defense, waiting for the changelings to act, and then reacting to whatever the changelings do.
If they knew exactly where to find every single one of changelings, and had a way to coordinate their efforts, they could kill or capture every one of them.
This little piece of help from Radel could potentially force the entire changeling nation to surrender to Equestria.
And ponies with laser turrets on their backs would be awesome. Just don't give one to Pinkie.
6105434 Which is why he could have a business empire. Relatively cheap amounts of materials, turned into high quality tools and equipment. The downside is the whole problem with available materials. Namely, silicon, gold iron and copper are all relatively easy and cheap to get because they have other uses, buying straight sand to turn into circuit boards in an inland town like Ponyville however... I am willing to fudge the power and say it's a combination of solar, and fusion of hydrogen atoms gathered by the ships AI automatically.
Sorry can not read this fic anymore. The science needs to be researched more. And this is too Gary Stu even for a person who does not mind them. You give the protagonist Everything. I mean come on, a box of communicators for a space mission that is supost to be a solo endeavor? I have lost my ability to suspend disbelief with this fic so... goodbye.

Wow! I've been so waiting for this story to continue! Can't wait for more!!!! Great job!!!

I hope everything goes well and good job stories been wonderful so far
6105547 Technically not solar power as solar comes from the root weird Sol, which is the Latin name for our sun.
