Fluttershy feels like she's being left behind when all of her friends find special someponies except her. In a fit of embarrassment, she hires an anonymous escort. But then that escort turns out to be someone surprising.
Im so glad that rarity states outright her own feelings. It makes sure fluttershy knows what the situation is and is more likely then rarity suddenly falling in love as well.
So "Sapphire" was Rarity and now Rarity and Fluttershy will be each others marefriend. I couldn't think of a better way for this to turn out, expert maybe inviting Flitter to join their herd.
First: that was sweet. Seriously--You portrayed Rarity's obvious experience and her wanting to not only ease Flutters into this but also her really wanting this to be good so well
Secondly, that line. About seeking companionship from a stranger... That slayed me that made me so sad geeze
Beautifully well written love scene there. I also really liked the fact that Rarity plainly stated her feelings and that they could become something more.
She thought about Rarity’s voice. She closed her eyes and listened to Rarity speak. But all she heard Rarity say, again, was, “This is something you have to do for yourself.”
Bite my lip and close my eyes. Take me away to paradiiise! Or maybe not. Would be a nice twist ending to have her discover masturbation though.
She turned away from the door. She looked at the window. She ran to the window and shoved the curtains aside. She fumbled desperately with the lock.
You are a fool to resist the lock of plot convenience!
“But it’s really not very comfortable down here, is it? If you wouldn’t object, perhaps we could speak on top of the bed rather than underneath it?”
Fluttershy has officially failed at proving herself to be an adult.
“I’m supposed to be the drama queen here, don’t you remember?” Rarity giggled, and then rested a hoof on Fluttershy’s withers and stroked gently.
I watch MLP too! Yeah, you're the drama queen, Rarity.
Sex is important. Sex is part of being an adult. But it is not being an adult. You are an adult because you are intelligent and mature and responsible, because of your experience and knowledge and wisdom, because of your ability to help so many, to care for so many animals and ponies. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been kissed. A mare isn’t more of an adult than anyone else just because she’s been with more ponies.
Not buying it. Children have sex with other children at a certain age, but are not themselves adults. This story assumes that once you hit a certain level of responsibility you just go out and have sex. And so we get the following chain of logic written above. Sex is something living organisms do because they can, some even enjoy it, but nothing more. Fluttershy's misunderstanding is completely understandable based on the circumstances.
I want you to find intimacy because it is a beautiful experience that can enrich anypony’s life. I want you to find love because you, more any other pony I know, deserve to feel loved, deserve to be loved.
No one is more or less deserving of being loved. There are only those who rest on a spectrum of how lovable or loathsome they might be. Affection, like everything else in this life, is something that is earned for positive traits or effort put in.
“It was a certain lonely, overworked, small town schoolteacher who I’m certain you know,” Rarity said, smiling in a distant kind of way. “She was… going through a difficult time, both in her work and in her private life. She needed somepony to talk to, somepony to listen, somepony to comfort her, somepony to tell her she was beautiful, somepony to make her feel loved. So that’s what I gave her. We met semi-regularly for nearly a year before I helped her and Pinkie Pie kindle their relationship.”
It's like the missing chapter of Gentleman For Mares that ends the Cheerilee arc. I have no idea if that's what you were going for, but it brings a smile to face, nonetheless. Headcanon graciously accepted.
Rarity reached for her teacup, certainly now long cold, but seemed to think better of it and just hung her hoof over the side of the bed instead. “A pony cannot live her entire life without intimacy. It would be a miserable existence to go forever without feeling the familiar touch of another.
Millions of people have done it through history, and contributed greatly to civilization. This simply isn't fair to say. If I told you that relationships brought only the negative and cited things like homeless statistics, male suicide rate, poverty, and national debt accrued from welfare programs, the response would be "not all relationships are like that." How is it any more fair to call singles miserable for being single? I'm sure plenty of them really enjoy the benefits of a simple life.
She turned to Fluttershy. “Does any of this make any sense at all? Or am I speaking nonsense?”
The latter, I'm afraid.
And then sex happened. I'm not really in the mood to read it now.
(sigh) I'm giving this a like. Rare do I find such quality writing go into a piece of pony fiction. I've said a lot of mean things and meant none of it personally. We agree to disagree on the message, I suppose. Good job, HBAO.

I waited a long time for this moment... and you did not disappoint. Much like everything else, you described it perfectly.
And I like how Rarity doesn't fully return her feelings right away. It feels more realistic like this.
Forever!!! This was soooo beautiful in every way!~
I DEMAND A SEQUEL U-um, if that's okay with you lol
either pick would or did, not both :p
