wow o_O you know, in a way, that kinda reminds me of this one scene in the first system shock game where you enter a room and suddenly the walls and ceiling slide away revealing the AI's (antagonist of the game) face while it speaks to you.
stuck, unable to do anything but look around and listen... quite the creepy and somewhat (well, primarily in this case with nightmare moon i suppose) frightening experience to speak to an omnipresent being in any situation.
not an experience i'd want to go through too often.
in system shock: *enters room to pick up an item* ok, got this thing so now to go back...and... *walls start sliding* the hell is this? *walls move away revealing the AI's face on all sides* the F is THIS?! damn... o_O this game just hit a new level of wtf. *AI starts talking* creeepy as f... >.> *AI finishes talking and the walls slide back into place* me: o_O yeah...totally NOT going to sleep for a while after THAT. please do NOT let something like that happen again later in this game. that was creepy as all heck.
aside from the creepy moments like that though, it's a good game. just don't expect too much from the final boss fight iirc.
remembering that part of that game makes me happy game devs don't do stuff like that very often at all.

Which is actually a shame, because especially in horror games, most games rely far too much on jumpscares and randomness. But that doesn't make a good scare. The best type of fear is psychological. If it messes with you and you get terrified of things that arent actually there but could be there, its truly horrifying. If a game makes your own mind your worst enemy, that is skill.
7902733 well, yeah, it's good for horror games. heh, if horror games were more like that then i'm not sure if i'd want to avoid them or find them more interesting.
hmmm... that could be a good path for VR horror games to explore. make the player question what is and isn't real. that could work real well for that genre.
and i don't mean like resident evil 7. was watching a let's play of it on tyrannicon's channel on youtube the other day and that game is syfy tier B movie garbage.
dude goes to some abandoned house in louisiana to find his girlfriend who had been missing for at least 3 years and while he does find her... since when is RE about possessed people? that girl ain't no zombie, she possessed by something dark. that is NOT resident evil. nothing about that was scary and yes, most of the first 18 minutes i saw was the girl doing jump scare BS.
come on, capcom...i KNOW your capable of FAR better than SYFY B movie garbage. or rather...you used to be capable of better. after all the megaman BS they've pulled in the past i don't know for sure anymore.
