9876972 Well, I’d definitely say she was a victim insofar as her looking up to Spitfire, but she made the choice to continue with it, even when she had seen the signs very clearly. She’s definitely not the only one at fault, but she definitely accepts her part of the blame. She was sexually frustrated and no one is perfect, you know?
And the broken heart thing, what exactly is that referring to? Granny Smith, or a joke, or what? Sorry I’m super sleepy.
9876998 She was also clearly heavily intoxicated and all involved knew that when she was sober she was intending to remain faithful. Which Spitfire actively took steps to undermine by pushing her to drink more, and more quickly, with the pretty clear intent of removing those inhibitions and good intentions.
Yeah, she meant to go have a few drinks and hang out. She didn't intend for her new boss to pressure her to go from zero to hammered in order to fit in and then try to seduce her.
So partly her fault, but Spitfire bears the brunt of it, and deserves that tooth smoothie for lunch.
And it was a reference to Granny Smith and the most inept medical droid in the Star Wars galaxy.
9877030 Bingo, you hit it right on the money. You’re pretty insightful. I wrote it as kind of a perfect storm of infidelity and intoxication. The way I thought about it was that Spitfire had always been attracted to her, and when Rainbow got there that night Spitfire was already well past drunk and unconsciously made her shitty decision. She wouldnt have tried anything had she been sober, as she always retained professionalism before then. It was also Rainbow telling Spitfire about her and AJ’s lack of intimacy that further bolstered Spitfire’s unconscious intention and I wrote it to where Rainbow knew that, having made the decision in a bad combination of sexual frustration and alcohol. I would say Spitfire wasn’t explicitly thinking “I’m going to have sex with her.” Until right before they left. But she did buy Rainbow all those drinks, and she got all sensual on the dance floor, so unconsciously that was her goal until it became her conscious goal. But no matter what, Spitfire knew how much Rainbow idolized her. Spitfire definitely deserves the tooth smoothie and she knows it, which is why she went to AJ on her own accord. If Applejack saw fit to give her one, she would’ve taken it gladly. Damn, I love discussions like this. And yeah, I love Revenge of the Sith but that shit was laughable. Also I’m a little worried someone will see these before they read the chapter.
I say again that Spitfire should resign. This is like 80% her fault. Got a new ‘bolt drunk so she could have her way with her. Rainbow would never have cheated had she been sober. I suppose Spitfire’s drunkenness is also to blame, but again, she’s an authority figure and must know better. It’s her job to know better.
Ugh, this is so painful. And I know you won’t be able to get them back together in that one remaining chapter…
Well, at least one pony in all this realizes that Rainbow's a victim here too.
And just don't tell me it was a broken heart....
