“Fer this type a’ san’wich, the bread should be no less than three quarters of an inch thick. An’ on that, just a single tablespoon of mayo - an’ a pinch of black pepper.”

“Ah see...”

“And the contents? Fresh cucumber - sliced nice an’ thin. It’s an art form ma girl, an’ don’t let anypony tell yuh otherwise.”

“Ah won’t. Promise!”

“That’s ma girl.”

Now, you see, I've long held the belief that proper sandwich making was an art unto itself.

You're making a composition of various colors, textures, flavors, smells, you must have the right consistency, subtle pairings, a good start, the right finish...

All the senses must be engaged.

It all has to blend together in a harmonious fashion or you're left with a cacophonic mess.
