“I’m afraid you don’t make the grade.”
“...I see.”
“What are you going to do now?”
“I’ll try again next time.”
“Your performance isn’t up to scratch...”
“I... understand.”
“It happened again?”
“Next time.”
“I’m sorry, but...”
“Don’t worry, I know.”
“And again?”
“There’s always next time.”
“I regret to inform you--”
“Save it. I know.”
“Are you alright?”
“I’m fine! I’m not crying! Don’t look at me that way!”
“But--”
“I need some time to think.”
“...OK. I’m here for you if you need me.”
Okay, I'll be honest; I do NOT understand these intermezzos at all. While I still find them quite enjoyable, I just don't get them.
35590 They're most likey part of a grand scheme to be revealed at the end. Either that, or simbolic/metaphorical.

My best guess, which is a shot in the dark, is that this is Freeze Pop and her tryout results for the guard. Again, only my guess.
Might as well say that I'm extremely glad I finally got around to reading this. It is really a great, fun little story. Slice of life is one of best genres in my book.

Well guessed!
This Intermezzo is indeed a look back on the several times Freeze Pop tried--and failed--to get into the Guards.
One question to be considered......are these intermizzos all from the same perspective.....it may be the assumption but thats not necessarily the case.
