As some of you may have noticed, I've been relatively quiet of late, (and then, suddenly, out of nowhere, today, I sort of exploded with content).

2023 has been a rough year for me. Between illnesses, and multiple double-shifts to make up for lost wages during those illnesses, I've been burning the candle at both ends. So I haven't produced much by way of Heart Full of Pony essays.

I am really really really really really really really really really really really close to completing the next chapter.

It's been a rough couple of months for both personal and work reasons, so progress on the story has been slower than I would like, but after much obsessive editing, and much help from my editor/proofreader, Seraphem, (who has a saintly amount of patience with me), this upcoming chapter is shaping up to be awesome.

After more than four months, Chapter 61 of Fallout: Equestria - Hooves of Fate is completed, finalized, formatted, and ready to go. In my own files, drafts of each chapter tend to get named by letter, (47f, 52j, 58m etc.). To put things in perspective, the final version of Chapter 61, "Light, Shadow, and a Secret Third Thing," made it all the way up to the letter u.

This Saturday marks the eight year anniversary of the release of Chapter 1 of Hooves of Fate. It's been a wild journey so far. At the time of its release, Twilight Sparkle had just gotten her wings only a few weeks before. That finale felt miles away from where the show had started, but looking back now, it's like ancient history. Hooves of Fate has been around almost as long as the show has. Wild, isn't it?

New chapter tonight.

At the end of this week comes the first New Moon of Autumn, and with it, the latest chapter of Hooves of Fate.

The New Moon is the point in the lunar cycle when you can't see the Moon at all. Once it passes, Luna begins her two-week journey toward fullness. This is a new beginning for Rose and Friends as well, so it seems fitting.

I'm contemplating actually writing The Voyages of Pinkbeard (when I'm done with Hooves of Fate).

It wouldn't be a pony fanfic. I just love the absolute insanity of that universe. I'm as surprised by it as you are whenever Rose Petal brings it up.

It might be worth exploring.

Chapter 44 is complete. This marks a record for me. A new chapter in just over a fortnight. This one wrote itself, and hardly needed any editing at all once the first draft was done.

I'm very excited to share it with you. Expect a release on Walpurgisnacht, (April 30th).

I think perhaps my favorite thing about writing is when the characters (or story in general) take me by surprise. I know it's hardly the meat of the story, but discovering "The Pinkbeard Chronicles," Rose's favorite book series, has been an absolute delight for this very reason. It tickles me every time.

A few days ago, I released Chapter 41, and for the first time ever, I completely forgot to add a quote at the beginning. Those of you who have been reading the story know that every chapter begins with a quotation, (either from a song lyric, or a book, or a philosopher, etc.). Today, I was finishing work when I suddenly realized that I hadn't picked a quote at all, or even thought about what it was going to be.
