There used to be a bug in intel processors called the "F00F bug".

There also was an "FDIV bug" in early intel processors during the advent of the i586 lineup.

Android was once it's own company.

The original prototype for the Raspberry Pi computer was closer in power to an Arduino than a mid-range smartphone like it is today.

Matter is actually over 99% empty space due to the spacing between the energy levels of atoms.

Want a double whammy of lead poisoning AND radiation sickness? Look no further, 'cause nearly every element has some form or another of a radioactive isotope! And that includes lead. Think about it. Radioactive lead.

AMD was once a second source to Intel, and Intel used to license out their exact designs to other companies.

I just realized that instead of forgetting to do a random facts blog for today, I forgot that I already made one, and instead posted two in one day.

Lithium-ion batteries are much harder to charge than "regular" Ni-mh or Ni-cad batteries, as they have a tendency to catch fire, overheat, or explode depending on how they're handled.

After failing on the highest possible level of facepalm, former graphics card manufacturer 3Dfx was consumed entirely by Nvidia, it's biggest rival.

Random Facts #86 (x86 edition) · 4:48am May 9th, 2017

Oh crap. I almost forgot again.

Intel's x86 architecture has been around since the 8086, which was the company's first commercial 16-bit chip.

x86, while originally 16-bit, was eventually extended to 32 bits with the introduction of the 80386.

Funnily enough, AMD actually brought upon the 64-bit extension of x86, with their Athlon-64 lineup.

I currently have an ant infestation because a certain exchange student stashes cheetos in his closet. He's in the room directly below mine.

My dad and I built a trampoline today. We used it to cover up a gravel pit in our backyard, and my feet hurt like crazy from standing on gravel all day, even though I had shoes on.

My dog has fat folds, and he's a miniature poodle. He snores, too.

In some species, animals have two different coats of fur, depending on the time of year. Between seasons, they shed their old coat and grow a newer one, which may be thicker or thinner depending on the upcoming season.

The outermost layers of our skin and hair--the layers that we actually see, aren't actually living. They're actually buildups of dead cells and cell fragments, which the body uses as it's first line of defense against pathogens.

Random Facts #84 - About Me edition · 2:11am May 7th, 2017

Alright now. We haven't done an about me post in a little while, so let's have a go at it!

For the past few weeks, I've found that it's nice to take the weekends off from updating fics, which is why I've generally been updating Mondays-Thursdays with occasional Friday updates.

(Special about me edition)

I'm a brony who happens to be friends with a furry who's also a weeaboo, a near-stereotypical angry gamer, a (soon to be) transgender, and a guy who never runs out of luck at the arcade.

I used to collect napkins up until I was about 9.

I didn't give up my baby bottle until first grade. And from the looks of it, the same will go for my little brother.

Give me a pair of sunglasses. Chances are by the next day I will lose them.

May the Fourth be with you...

Spaceballs is a (relatively) well-known parody of Star Wars.

During the character planning, Yoda was to be a gnome. Let's just be happy that that was changed.

Yoda was also planned to be played by a monkey.

E.T.'s species made a cameo in The Phantom Menace.

The sound a lightsaber makes is actually the noise of old TVs starting up.

I've never been too much of a Star Wars fan, but I've watched a movie or two. Kinda.

The touch-sensitive part of a screen is actually completely separate from the actual screen itself. Instead, it's a "digitizer screen" that's overlayed and glued/mounted directly on top of the actual screen.

There are two primary types of touch digitizers: Resistive and capacitive. In recent years, capacitive screens have largely overtaken resistive screens.
