Random Facts

Windows NT was the result of the breakup between IBM and Microsoft. Its codebase remains an integral part of Windows to this day.

With enough “training data”, a neural network could theoretically mimic just about anything.

Rechargeable batteries that are commonly found in Walmarts and other stores of teh like were once made using Nickel and Cadmium, the latter being a toxic heavy metal. Because of this, the batteries were eventually transitioned to the current Nickel-Metal-Hydride formula found commonly today.

Nintendo holds patents for emulators to its own consoles.

Many “modern” tech companies actually have been around for many, many years. Nintendo, for example, has actually been around since the late 19th century.

Opinions and thoughts

Seriously, someone please figure out how to take Comcast down.

I really want to set up a neural network using a networked cluster of computers built using the random parts I have laying around, but I have very little software experience, so all I can really do is get the cluster up. On the other hand, there’s a reason why I’ve been trying out various programming courses.

I have yet to watch a full Youtube video end-to-end. Why? Because either every half a minute, the internet dies, the internet is laggy to the point where the video is practically eternally buffering while I do some obscure thing, or in the event of which the internet is actually functional, (~2 mbps, a fraction of what my parents actually paid for), I end up having to leave to do some obscure thing, only to find that the internet’s down again by the time I return.

The clackety sound of keyboards is very relaxing to me. It might be because before I moved I liked to take naps on the couch in the living room at my old house, which doubled as my mom’s home office, so I was used to hearing her on the keyboard for hours and hours.

Speaking of which, my mom accidentally dropped her wireless mouse onto the (non-carpeted, laminate hardwood) floor a few days ago. For a few minutes, the thing seemed obviously destroyed, but a battery change later and it was working fine again. Is it a coincidence that it’s the same brand as the old serial mouse I use that’s about twice my age?

I will not help you with corporate espionage.

Those rechargeable batteries can also be lithium ion.

Lithium ion are hardly used in standard “AA”, “C”, “D”, etc. types of batteries, as they require special charging hardware to prevent damage.

While that is true, it still happens. I have some even, somewhere.

4573472
Huh. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a li-ion based battery outside of consumer electronics. I guess the charging circuitry is contained within the battery itself rather than being a separate board then?

4573475
Maybe? Idk, but they are invading everything now.

Yeah. Personally, I’m watching for those experimental carbon fiber cells that are being worked on. They’re a pain to produce right now, but they seem to have potential.
