There's something I notice that most reviewers (to my knowledge) didn't mention about the season 5 finale parts 1 and 2. When Starlight changes the past the future is alternated into three most dominate timelines: King Sombra, Chrysalis, and Nightmare Moon. I'm aware there are others, but let's focus on these three. Within each timeline we see how the mane 5 are affected by this.
