Now that Season 7 is on the way and I've had some time to think about it, some of the episodes of Seasons 1-6 have changed places. And to that end I feel the need to update how I rank each season's episodes, starting with Season 1. Here's the previous version from last year, in case you want to see what's changed.

With the first half of Season 7 concluded, it's time to see how all 156 episodes stack up. Like always, if you're curious why an episode ends up where it does, just ask. I've been eyeing the "rating" ranking on Changeling Space Program recently.
This morning it was the 13th most popular fic on FimFiction... going by a ratio of up-votes to down-votes.
I'll repeat that: #13 on the list of most popular fics.
The thing is, it was also the only one in the top fifty or so with a three-digit up-vote count. It was that high because only three people had ever down-voted it.
It's been a while since I covered the rankings for Season 5. I apologize for the mix-up regarding Season 3, my opinions on those episodes have not changed, their rankings still stand. Anyway, my opinions on Season 5 have changed. So, here's version 2, from a year ago. Let's see what changed.

The movie introduced quite a few new characters to us. Some more memorable than others. And now it's time to rank them, all nine of them, from worst to best.
Needless to say, this list is the result of my personal opinion. Chances are you're going to feel differently about some of the rankings than I do. But like all my rankings, this one is not official by any means. You're free to disagree, so long as you respect my opinion. Now let's begin.
9. Grubber
Well, they can't all be successes. Sometimes for one reason or another a villain on the show just fails. So today we'll be looking at my picks for the top ten villains that are the absolute worst to come out of the show. I'm not going to be including villains who are either on a level of "So bad, they're good" or "Love to hate", and I won't be including any villains who ended up reformed (though if I did I imagine some of them would end up here, namely Season 8 Discord, late Season 5 and Season

With earth ponies and pegasi out of the way, it's time to cover the unicorns once again. This season was interesting for unicorns, we had some good and some bad. In fact, I might say the good from the new characters added here outshined the bad or forgettable from most of the veterans. As always, this list is purely the result of my personal opinion. We got a couple more songs this season than we did in the past two seasons, though a lot of them were reserved until the second half for better or for worse. With Daniel Ingram now freed from the movie, how did his first batch of songs post-movie fare? Well, you're about to find out. Now it's on to episode types, episodes involving a particular type of theme or structure. Two parters have with few exceptions been how seasons have started and ended. Yet their quality has widely varied over the years, and at the same time they rarely tend to be on most people's best episodes lists (perhaps owing to the Slice of Life nature of the show). But today we're going to look at all 13 two parters we've had so far and see how they compare.
Now it's on to some of the other characters that have gotten a significant number of episodes devoted to them. First and foremost is what was supposed to be the new mane six, but like many other things in Season 8 turned out underdeveloped and underutilized, the student six (also sometimes called the young or creature six). We've already explored how they stack up as characters, but what about their episodes? Well, that's what we're here to find out.
Well, Sunburst isn't getting another spotlight episode, not that anyone really expected him to. He served his purpose well though. With one last outing for him, he bumped his total of episodes up to 7. For those wondering why Maud Pie isn't getting her list updated, "Student Counsel" wasn't a focus episode for her despite her presence. That also holds true for Sunburst who really didn't do much in that episode. But what exactly changed for Sunburst with one more episode? Well, let's find out.
Another season has come and gone, and with it has come a few changes in opinion regarding the story editors. We had a returning veteran and a brand new one, both of whom looked like they could work well together. But it seems like the story editor position is becoming an increasingly ceremonious one. So with all the ups and downs of Season 8, how did the story editor rankings adjust? Well, you're about to find out.
Rarity didn't get as many expys as every other member of the mane six we've covered up to this point, probably because she's such a complex character and thus hard to truly pin down to one attribute. Still, she managed to get a total of officially five expys from some very unexpected places. As always, we're looking at how these characters function as an expy of the mane six member they're based on and not just how they are as characters as a whole.
5. Spoiled Rich
Pinkie Pie might have gotten a ton of expys, but Fluttershy got perhaps the most out of the whole bunch, although at least two eventually became more of their own characters. And today we're going to be looking at the eight official Fluttershy expys from the show (no comics exclusive characters) and how they would stack up. As always, this list is purely the result of my personal opinion so please respect it.
8. Vapor Trail
If Pinkie Pie is the show's mascot for the target audience then Rainbow Dash is the show's mascot for bronies. After Pinkie Pie she was the second mane six member to get an infamous grimdark fic starring her, as well as a much more upbeat fic that the fandom went nuts for. And of course, I'm sure a good number of people originally mistook her for a boy considering how tomboyish she was (and still kind of is).
