Site Post » New User Module, Character Changes & Banner Reset · 6:12am Dec 24th, 2013

I've added a new module to user pages for favourites. Unlike the favourites gallery, this is all of your favourites and you can order them by rating or date added and hide mature stories should you wish. It shows up like the latest stories module.

Site Post » Reviews Round 33 · 6:31pm Dec 23rd, 2013

The air was a pain to breathe, weighted by a cold, dry atmosphere and layers of clothing to suppress the sharp wind chills. The snow blared at him from a seemingly unnatural angle, digging into the crevices of his coat and slipping down the collar of his shirt. Thankfully, he did not need to be in this blizzard any longer. He wrapped his gloved hand around the handle of the surface dwelling and heavied it open against the raw force of the storm. The wood groaned defiantly, but he created a gap

Site Post » A few minor updates · 3:17am Dec 23rd, 2013

Over the past day, we've added a few features and fixed a few bugs. You can now enter how many items you want to display for the "Latest stories" and "Watching" modules. We've also added the user-requested feature of sorting the "Latest stories" module by when the stories were updated instead of when they were published. Additionally, group thread refreshing should now work again.

Site Post » User Page Ideas · 12:20am Dec 22nd, 2013

A lot of people seem to be having issues with the new user pages that I can think almost all be summed with the fact that the update made things look different than before, and you will HAVE to update your page if you want it to look good. Thusly, I've decided to give some ideas for what looks good in my experience when I was designing the different modules.

Site Post » User Page Update · 6:14pm Dec 21st, 2013

Over the last few days, my primary job has been updating user pages. Anyone who has been around on the site long enough knows there were a lot of problems here. A lot of people had fundamentally broken pages where it was almost impossible to find the report button or block button which is a serious usability issue. To address this, I've changed user pages somewhat to add a little more coherency to them.

Site Post » Blueshift’s “Home is Where the Harp Is” · 9:47pm Dec 20th, 2013

Today we bring you a surprisingly dark story from an author better known for his comedies — and a story which shows that “dark” doesn’t have to mean “violent and edgy.”

Site Post » Tagged Story Abuse · 3:43am Dec 18th, 2013

Hi guys. Let's talk a sec.

Lately, the staff has noticed an uptick in the number of blogs making use of that newfangled tagged stories feature. Y'know, the one where you can tag a story onto a blogpost and everyone who's ever favorited that story will get that blog in their feed.

(It should look kind of like this)

Site Post » Update Batch #3 · 12:56am Dec 16th, 2013

Unfortunately there isn't a ton of interesting things this time, because most of the changes have been on the back end where there have been some serious changes to things. We now only serve 1 pre-zipped css file and 1 js file which gets rid of a ton of requests, is far smaller, and caches better. This should mean the site is quite a decent bit faster.

Site Post » Meta Stories · 2:22am Dec 11th, 2013

Hey guys,

One of our rules that gets frequently contested is "meta" stories. Part of the problem is that it can be quite nebulous and the line can be hard to draw for how much meta content a story needs to be disallowed. Consequently, we've decided to run a quick poll to see how people feel about this issue because it really isn't for our benefit anyway. If people want meta stories then it's silly to ban them.
