Princess Essenta Dale has never particularly enjoyed or appreciated her status brought on by her birth and name. Soon to come of age, it's a sure thing her father will rid himself of his troublesome daughter by way of marriage and secure himself a healthy dowry in the process.

When the latest suitor comes knocking, Essenta pulls the prince away to show him her beloved home and the ponies she holds dear. Their drunken night on the town sets off a wild chain of events that finds the princess traveling across the expanses of Ancient Equestria.

Along the way she and her little company of friends encounter all manner of creatures and see first-hoof the strange, wild land the continent once was.
