Try to make the file smaller and convert it to JPG if it's not in that already. You're probably hitting the same size limit some users hit while trying to upload their stories. Try getting it below 1MB, and if that doesn't help, below 750 KB or even 500 KB.

It looks like FiM doesn't like PNG files too much. Once I converted the first image to jpg, it uploaded without a problem. You can see here how it looks:

It should upload fine. I tried a few other banners, but since the final image is cropped to a weird resolution of 1000x250, it's hard to find something that would look good after conversion .

Fimficition usually is fine with pngs for banners and group icons. 95% of the ones I've uploaded for groups were pngs.

Mind you, banners, I always cropped and scaled to exactly 1000 x 250 before uploading. Icons, I've been doing as 1000x1000, though that should probably be 1024 or 512. It scales, so making sure it's the same width and height is the big thing.

I do think fimfiction doesn't like files that are too large, though, and jpegs are usually much smaller than pngs...

OK, I have investigated a bit further, and... yeah, it's not the extension but the size. On the edit group page, it says 5 MB is the max, but it seems that anything above 2 MB throws an exception... Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, FiMFiction uploads images to Cloudflare's CDN - maybe they limited the max size recently or something.

In any case, you're right; PNGs seem fine as long as they're below 2 MB .
