I did adore that episode. But I'm probably the only one in the world that likes Cadance, and was utterly gleeful to have more of her.

Dunno 'bout subtext (even with my love of TwiDance), though obviously some of the FiM writers this season have one hell of a tentacle fetish too.

Then the wing-slap she gave Shining when he said, "it's just a test" clearly understanding Twilight more, and her near bubblyness visiting Twilight by herself, and Twilight's giddyness at it being just the two of them for a whole week at the exclusion of the rest of the cast in Three's a Crowd (which also has innuendo as a title...) who were more than willing accomplices... lol

OK, it's just my fangirly side, but I do read it as subtext.
