Apparently "Sire" can mean the male parent of some animals, so that might convey some other things.

Yes, sir and dame are commonly used terms in horse breeding, and fandom does tend to use those often enough.
Do keep in mind, however, that Sireland will literally mean "Father Land", and that tends to evoke the notion of Germany in most people, not Ireland.
