We want to help!

Anti-Depression Ponies isn't specifically a suicide prevention forum, but we recognize that suicide is part and parcel of our illness. Ultimately what we are is a group of people that want to help. If you need some attention, you'll have a lot of people willing to provide it. People that care and want the best for you. If you're scared, or hopeless, or sad, we want to be there for you, and we'll help as much as you allow.

We aren't impartial, or trained, or professional. We're certainly not magical. But we are willing to listen and talk. And a lot of us have been where you are, and can understand.

The only thing we ask of you is that you try to be open to the idea to being helped. Even if it might seem like nobody could. If you're posting here, you want it, right? Please don't drop a post saying you're killing yourself and leave, forcing people to chase you into your user page and PMs, all panic and worry. Moderators might have to delete that sort of thing, knowing how much it hurts everyone, and that will in turn hurt your chances of getting what you need.

Talk to us instead. We want you to do it, promise. It's why a lot of us are here. There is no contest for the most dramatic reasons to be suffering, and thus no reason to feel the need to make a splash. People here will be there with you both if you're upset over just being so tired, failing a test, a fight with your brother, being abused by your parents, or if you've just lost someone you love. Suffering is suffering, small or large. We know that.

Basically, if you're here. We're here. So stick around.

Crisis Lines

I encourage you to call a lifeline, if you need some immediate help.
They're strictly confidential, anonymous and won't judge. You can speak to someone and hear a voice that cares. And they're probably better at listening than us busybodies who always offer unwanted advice. :pinkiehappy:

If you're thinking you wouldn't want to bother someone, or they're going to condemn you, please read this. I found it pretty helpful, both regarding them and us. They want to help (like us). They show up to help. If nobody calls, they've wasted their night. They're never going to begrudge you your call, no matter what it's about.

Here are a few of the larger help lines. There are others, including ones tailored specifically to things like abuse and sexual assault. They're never more than a Google search away, for your country or specific need.

Other Places on FiMFiction

Don't think we'll be too helpful for your specific situation? No problem. Here are a few places that might also help:

I did say we're not specifically a suicide support group, but there is one on FiMFiction! Consider leaving a post there, in 'Feeling Suicidal? Talk with Us.'

It's tough being a young LGBT person. It's something that gets easier as you get older, but if you need some help getting over that hump, consider FiMFiction's own LGBT group. There's a lot of people there that went through, or are going through, the same things you are.

There's even a place to go if what's getting you down is trouble with your own writing: The Self-Doubting Author Support Group!

Our fandom is full of great people. In this group or not, you'll find lots of people who care.
