The great Empire of High Gathad was a Militarist human Empire, and Loyal allies to the Ponies. However, they became embroiled in a terrible conflict with a demonic horror. Many times, was aid requested of the ponies, but they did not answer. Nightmare moon was a fresh wound, and the armies of Equestria were in disarray, trying to hold the country together as various political groups used Celestia's banishment for their own gain. Celestia herself, Broken by her sister's betrayal, had locked herself away. Humanity's call went unanswered. Desperate, they sought a solution, turning to ever darker magics in order to keep the demon and its unholy servants at bay. Eventually, in an explosion of black magic, The once great empire was destroyed. Few humans survived, and most who did, became feral, tribal things, far gone from their noble ancestry. Soon, ash turned to sand and desert, and high-gathad, became the badlands. Now, Daring do has discovered a battlefield, one of many dotting the badlands. Bones and the slowly disintegrating tools of war lie in the most inhospitable part of the desert. Old, tattered banners, bleached by the sun, flap on the ends of petrified poles, and rusted swords, shields, spear and pike litter the ground. What catches Daring's interest, is the figure kneeling in the middle. His flesh supple and robes clean despite a millenia of rot around him. The Emperor himself, still wrapped in his robes, and still a source of dark magic.

Daring shouted as the pony the museum had saddled her with on this expedition reached towards the fallen emperor, only to be blown back when a shockwave sent her and the hapless curator tumbling. Both ponies could only watch in horror as black, writhing tendrils wriggled into the earth around them and the Emperor rose, his famed staff bursting from the earth...and he was not the only one who rose. choking, stinking magic seemed to permeate every skeleton, and ghastly, rotting apparitions sprung forth. Soon, with ethereal banners flapping in the wind, stood the furious, vengeful spirits of the grand imperial army. The ghosts soon parted, to allow the Emperor to slowly levitate forth, as ethereal chains lifted daring and her companion to the former human's empty, glowing sockets.
"Go tell the betrayer....Gathad rises...and we will be sate our thirst for vengeance with her blood, or the blood of her peoples"

Y'know, you really should actually turn these ideas into stories, instead of just posting threads about them.
