I really don't know if any of those would really work in space. :rainbowlaugh: They just look so ridiculous.

Still rather have a Sovereign Class starship.

I'd seen the Space Battleship New Jersey art before.

I personally prefer the look of the first piece of art, even though it doesn't stay as true to the lines of the ship.

2980131 Frankly all of them are freaking terrible for space. The classic WW2 battleship build was fine for it's time, but even then it was supplanted by aircraft carriers and that was with the wet navy.

Not too mention while the big cannons look nice, they are beyond idiotic in a space setting where attackers can attack from thousands of kilometers away. Trying to aim turrets that size and and at that range, would be nigh impossible and that's not counting in factors like gravity wells, as well as pitch, roll, and general orientation of both ships,

2980131 Since they're all impractical as hell, the space Battleship themed one, for the looks. :rainbowwild:

I feel as if i'm obliged to comment

2980131 I know the guy who made the first one.

Two of mine:

I would normally find a picture but I can't seem to find a good picture of a Honorverse superdreadnought, one would think that pictures of a nearly 1400 meter long warship kicking ass would be plentiful. So you will have to settle for a link: RMN Medusa-class

2980131 Because I'm biased as hell, I like the SBY version. I also like this picture made by the same guy:

2980257 2980327 There is precidence for the "wet navy" look. If they are space fleets, then they might have to land on colonies with water. Plus, in the SBY-verse, the ships are equipped with "Type 3" ammunition, which is a good ol' shell. Also, the battles treat space as an ocean. A multi-dimensional ocean, but an ocean nonetheless
2980613 What is the name of that ship?

2982750 :facehoof: Why would they ever land?! Much less in water! Vacuum proof is not the same as water proof!

Not too mention that escaping atmosphere would be a big problem for a ship that size and it runs the risk of trapping the ship at the base of a gravity well.

2985743 Colonies, with water.

2987111 Again, why would you send the entire battleship where it's maneuvering options are limited?

2990016 Maybe for an escort mission, like escorting colony ships through a dangerous area, or something along those lines. Also, with landing, what about refits? Some things can't easily be done in weightless conditions. With the atmosphere leakage thing, haven't you heard of airlocks? Plus, if it is vaccum-proof, then it would be waterproof.

2991258 Vaccum proofing is meant to keep stuff in, whereas water pressure deals with an inward pressure as opposed to an outward pressure. Not too mention different planets are going to have different gravities, effecting the pressure gradient even more.

Also why would you use a spaceship to escort something through the atmosphere? It makes no sense! If it's an interstellar convoy, then the ship can hand off it's convoy target to planetary defenses. And more can be done in a weightless environment when it comes to ship maintenance than can be done in atmosphere. Hell even less force would need to be used in refitting turrets or reloading and could be accomplished with about half the crew.
