Well, this took forever. Now I'm going to get a drink, but I know I'm going to be disturbed. Do you ever get those annoying people when you go to bars? The ones that never shut up? I'm tired, I'm hungry, leave me the hell alone.

Normally I'd put some spiel here about how this is all subjective and susceptible to change, but I'm not. Unlike past entries, this one is not going to change. It may be amended with additions, but what is present will not be altered. These corporations are what we are working with, all their technology, influence, and everything will remain as it is until the next set of fanfictions have come to pass.

If you hurry, you can add your own before we begin writing. We are still in the preproduction stages. If you want a corporation cemented into the lore, now's your chance to write something briefly and post it into the comments below. I've given you the formula and a few people to use if necessary. King Kludge and DaemonJack are hackers. Graverobber is a chemical thief. Wayne Brettin likes to get his claws into every corporation he can. Ana is firmly against crime. You can use these five in some capacity.

These are the companies some of us will be dealing with in some manner. Some are good, and some are deliciously bad.

Place your bets.

9. Corporations
As war runs rampant, such things like basic commodities are taken over by others more capable of running things. If, by chance, you are involved in an interstellar war stretching across several star systems, you must contract out necessary products and raw materials in order to save time, energy, and money.

As war raged on, several corporations stepped up to the plate and became titans with as much money and power as world governments. Some operate for the greater good, while others use their influence for self interest, selling illegal weapons and chemicals, or even their own comrades for blatant personal gains.

As large and sprawling as many are, it is difficult to tell where the first rotten apple fell, or even how many. Often enough, people on the streets speak of all corporations with fear, disgust, and hatred, while fresh employees find solid, stable work among them as freedom from war and the urban decay. There are a few diamonds in the rough, but others have hearts as black as coal.

Each entry displays basic information about the company, yet more specific details are left vague in order to induce creative rights. These are the basic, abridged definitions behind each entry:

Corporate Headquarters: The location of any corporate headquarters a megacorp may possess. While some do not have such a site, and have other lesser headquarters to better cope with the load of a sprawling empire, some items and information can only be discovered at HQ.

President/CEO: The chief decision maker and person in charge. Most CEOs must run major decisions by the Board of Directors before approval.

Chairman of the Board: The person in charge of the Board of Directors. The Board’s duty is to make sure business runs smoothly, and the Chairmen is the person in charge of these individuals.

Corporate Status: Either Private or Public. Private businesses are not government or publicly owned and tend to have a small list of shareholders. Shares are not traded to the public and it is easier to hide nefarious dealings.

Public businesses are open to the public and can therefore have stock and interests traded on the market.

Notable Shareholders: Any (notable) individual that owns a significant share of a corporation. Shareholders own a portion of the corporation and are allowed to vote on certain matters, like new members of the Board.

Biolab
Corporate Headquarters~~~~Magnasanti
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~Dr. Edmund Sirus
Chairman of the Board~~~~~Lars Sojourn
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~Dr. Edmund Sirus: 18%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lars Sojourn: 13%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wayne Brettin: 9%

Biolab can trace its origins to the late 22nd century, where biochemical engineering first discovered its solid roots. With a few shrewd business practices, several business heads combined their resources and power in order to form Earth’s first megacorp.

The Sojourn family line is the leading power in Biolab. Unlike most corporations that tend to have a family head in the CEO chair, a unanimous decision elected the leading shareholder, Edmund Sirus, to CEO. The decision was heavily contested among shareholders, yet after a year of appeasement, political and business qualms died down, although many shareholders have not forgotten the slight of putting another in the chair.

Biolab specializes in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, although has been known to dabble in Robotics, Cybertechnology, and Nanotechnology. Their core research is for looking for viral and bacterial cures, modifying plants and livestock to produce more or better succor, and modifying living bodies for medicinal, cosmetic, or some beneficial effect.

Deus
Corporate Headquarters~~~~Mars Xixor mining colony
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Lafayette
Chairman of the Board~~~~~Lafayette
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~Private
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~Lafayette: 100%

Ever since a series of leveraged buyouts after the destruction of four Essex-Imago-Iinata offworld industrial complexes during the war, Deus is now unanimously owned by a man only known as Lafayette. Originally the base colony was mined for raw materials, but now Lafayette has completely restructured the company to suit his needs, including buying out the lesser shares. Billionaire Wayne Brettin attempted to stop the takeover with his own business assets and influence, but failed. To this day, Deus is the largest industrial manufacturer ever known.

Deus mass produces machines, robotics, and heavy industrial equipment for various companies. Given the isolated nature and location of the Xixor base, little information exists about the current state of affairs or working conditions. Recently discovered reports about a disproportionate influx of new workers with a low amount of departures has raised many eyebrows, but the lack of resources for a full investigation and any credible complaint has prevented further scrutiny.

Dusseldorf
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Dusseldorf, Germany
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Harold McNair
Chairman of the Board~~~~~Saya Yana
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~Harold McNair: 13%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wayne Brettin: 4%
Dusseldorf was once a sprawling city in 2247, but all it took was one mistake to change that. A prototype mass driver, codenamed “Anvil”, misfired a test shot of welded-together space junk and leveled the city.
A tragedy as it may have been, the world rebuilt the wasteland from the ashes a new purpose. The crater and the surrounding land mass is now a multi-tiered chemical complex that houses and produces every type of chemical imaginable. As the surrounding area is not inhabited by residential housing, massive chemical silos and refineries dot the landscape. Dusseldorf retained the name of the city out of respect for those who lost their lives and now provides chemicals for all available companies. They are now the world’s leading chemical manufacturer.
Dusseldorf provides chemicals for almost all uses. Arsenic for mining, specialized alcohol for antiseptics, and chemical cocktails for various biosciences. Dusseldorf has been a chronic target of the Graverobber, a chemical thief.
Eden Enterprises
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Detroit, Michigan
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Daniel Bosk
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Lester Mons
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Private
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~Daniel Bosk: 17%
“Almost” is the best word to describe Eden Enterprises. They almost went bankrupt several times within the past century, is almost as good as Zenith Inc. in terms of cyberware production, and is almost free of the stigma of bureaucratic corruption.
Eden traces its roots back to the later 20th century. Formerly a collection of several software and hardware developers, frequent wars and economical tension caused several companies to band together in self preservation.
Throughout its long life, Eden has been fraught with scandals and accusations of corruption. Most corporations are accused of such at some point in their lives, yet most targeted at Eden seem to have a grain of truth. The heads of staff do whatever is necessary to keep the precarious company afloat and dispel accusations of criminal ties to lawbreakers such as NOMAD, but even their harsh and strict measures are starting to fail. Clever management has saved the corporation from tragic implosion and corporate cannibalism from its fellows and competition, but many predict Eden Enterprises, the world’s longest-running corporation, may finally be on its last legs.
Eden has had a long-standing corporate rivalry with Zenith Inc. to the point corporate spies are expected hazards of the job. Persistent dislike of Zenith has been strong due to Zenith’s superior public image, despite the fact Eden Enterprises’ quality is normally considered better even if they do not have a selection as vast.
Eden is highly proficient in Nanotechnology, Cybertechnology, Telecommunications, and Software development, but specializes in headware. The massive backlash against Eden has caused its PR division and quality control to go into overdrive and their work is among the highest quality. That still has not solved its shattered public image.
Espa Robo
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Los Angeles Megacity
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Unknown
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Norman Sera
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Private
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~Unknown
While many corporations were left to themselves, that did not stop the government from creating one of its own in 2824 - now named Espa Robo. Having their interests solely in government affairs, wetwork agencies, and weapon production has not gone unnoticed; the public has demanded several times that Espa Robo open its books and has been promptly ignored each time. Issues with several bad investments, unusual purchases, poor public trust, and purchasing several other lesser companies and subsidiaries has left most with confusion as well as concern.
The obfuscation has never been more discomforting when when cybercriminal kingpin King Kludge proclaimed the Board of Directors was in serious turmoil. The exact nature of the criminal’s claim was unknown, but given that his public bounty doubled, many fears were privately confirmed.
Espa Robo specializes in Cybertechnology, Nanotechnology, and Biotechnology. It is the only known producer of Deltaware for each technology, and extremely skilled in Gammaware. As Deltaware is illegal to possess if you are not a government employee, the secrets involved and the technology itself are closely-guarded secrets. As a result, Espa Robo facilities are a frequent target for thieves, hackers, and criminals.
Essex-Imago-Iinata
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Buenos Aires, Argentina
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Silas Deugan
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Silas Deugan
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Silas Deugan: 14%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wayne Brettin: 7%

The world’s largest corporation in terms of capital, resources, and reach. Essex-Imago-Iinata may not have to proficiency of Zenith Inc. or the longevity of Eden Enterprises, but there is not a soul alive that cannot state that the megacorp is not good at what it does.

Beginning as an energy producer, Essex-Imago-Iinata skills and controlling interests in the energy market always made them a notable power to be feared or befriended. Tactical interests and clever business planning planning slowly but surely allowed them to buy up other corporations and soon dominate not only the energy sector, but that of heavy industry, aerospace, chemicals, automotives, and telecommunications.

Essex-Imago-Iinata technology is involved in everyday life in some aspect or another. The majority of business producers require technology from them in some manner or another. From buildings to the fuel for transport, their reach is broad and long.

Due to several hacks into their mainframe, Essex-Imago-Iinata has put out a high price for the capture of DaemonJack.

The Factory
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Magnasanti
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Lora Aldo
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Abdul Hazred
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Private
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Lora Aldo: 7%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Abdul Hazred: 11%
Although simply named, The Factory is as needed as it is feared. The largest, or at least best known, producer of robotics, multimedia, and virtual reality makes The Factory the ying to Essex-Imago-Iinata’s yang. Although having little to no interest in dealing with other businesses, The Factory makes its fortune by creating products for consumers.
The Factory is notorious for being extremely brutal in protecting its technology, software, and creative rights. Those that steal from them are quick to understand that they do not tolerate such thievery. There are several confirmed reports of private security raiding criminal and residential homes in order to retain stolen goods, often with several casualties caught in the crossfire. Given only civilians and criminals see any need to steal from them, complaints against them are quickly dropped after meetings behind closed doors conclude, or are simply bribed or killed to prevent criminal investigations. It is common knowledge that The Factory is very corrupt and even uses its ever-cycling funds to help launder money should it be needed.
The Factory creates all forms of media down to the sickest, most depraved pleasures, providing you are willing to pay. Virtual reality, simulated reality via suits equipped with neurofeedback and tactile response (sim-suits), and sim-suits modified to simulate any kind of sexual act over the Internet are popular commodities.
Heilengiest
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Naval Dreadnaught Absolution, Titan Orbit
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Anastasia Arias
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Anastasia Arias
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Anastasia Arias: 32%
Although only a subsidiary of Zenith created by Anastasis Arias, CEO of Zenith Inc., ten years ago, Heilengiest is now well known for its affordable hospitals. Having hundreds of such facilities across multiple worlds has put Anastasia within the good graces of the public and kept her in her desired position as CEO of Zenith Inc.
From broken bones to chemical contamination to cyberware repairs, most is within the power of Heilengiest facilities. Due to Anastasia’s staunch and unbending belief in the law, all injuries are documented for private record. Heilengiest freely cooperates with authorities providing that they have the proper documentation and warrants, and will share injury reports with them if they match with recent crimes. Should Heilengiest know for certain that a patient is a confirmed criminal, they will contact authorities to make an arrest, or call private security to restrain the subject until their arrival. Heliengeist has frequent problems with raids by the Graverobber and has placed a high bounty on his head for his capture.
Heilengiest has several contracts with the Society of Corporate Protection (SCP) and Valkyrie. Several hospitals use SCP guards for security reasons. When Valkyrie dropships need to transport patients to intensive care facilities, a Heilengiest hospital is often the first destination.
Human Liberation Front (HLF)
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~N/A
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Sheryl Roper
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~N/A
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~N/A
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~N/A
As a new wave of body modification crosses all walks of life in the form of new technologies and genetic engineering, certain fringe groups have sprung up in resistance. The Human Liberation Front (HLF) is opposed to body modification in any capacity and deems it a crime against nature and God.
There is no clear start of the HLF, as its roots are as intertwined with biotech, cybertech, and genetic engineering as they can get. Starting off as a few fringe members, the HLF grew and uses the Internet to stage protests, defacement, and raids. Some radical HLF members have taken the cause to such an extreme that they actively assault those known to modify their bodies, or even oppose extraterrestrials under the guise of keeping humanity pure of their corruptive influences. While there is no central hierarchy to dismantle to stem the flow, several planets have declared HLF a criminal organization due to their more violent tendencies in order to slow the damage. HLF protests are frequently targeted by King Kludge and DaemonJack for sabotage for purposes of amusement.
Kageki
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Hokkaido Megacity
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Yukiri Isano
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Wayne Brettin
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Yukiri Isano: 4%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wayne Brettin: 3%

Kageki originated in Japan during the a few minor skirmishes between the people of Mars and Earth as a place for people to get powered armor and tools to help survive. After all, when 2 planets are at war, there isn't really a safe zone, and it was a freeforall to ensure survival. After the war was over, Kageki started to lose business, at which point cyberware began to be considered a hot commodity on the open market. Shortly after, production began in earnest and business increased.

After Brettin, then only a stockholder, made a private trip, he revealed to the board new plans for single pilot flight suits. The military, expressing interest in the design, desired more information on how the billionaire produced such an advanced design, but he would not reveal the secret. Nevertheless, production began for private, civilian, and military uses.

Kageki only rivals Zenith Inc. in terms of moral integrity, despite the eccentricities of its Director. Due to several money bailouts during the Mars skirmishes, Wayne was promoted to Director as a thank you, despite him initially refusing the role. The Board and shareholders are dominated by the Isano line and proudly trace back their Japanese heritage several hundred years.

Kageki mainly produces transportation, vehicles, cyberware, and schematics for interstellar ships. Kageki can produce bodyware, headware, and cyberlimbs, but specializes in bodyware.

NOMAD
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~N/A
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~N/A
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~N/A
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~N/A
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~N/A

As long as there are rules, there will always be those ready to break them. NOMAD is a vast and secretive criminal empire that combines the tenacity of those that grew up on the streets with the wily minds of business leaders. NOMAD buys and sells illegal wares and does so under the cover of several front organizations and secret mobile facilities. They mobility of NOMAD keeps them ahead of the law, and they’ve been consistently ahead of them for as long time.

Little is known about NOMAD’s internal structure. At the top of each facility is a director that knows only two other directors. This strict secrecy has prevented captured criminals from exposing too much of the organization at once. Nevertheless, as long as you have money, you can buy your way past the usually strict guidelines needed for most weapons, cyberware, bioware, and nanoware. NOMAD has access to headware, bodyware, and cyberlimbs.

Although Espa Robo is the only official producer of deltaware weapons and armor, that has not stopped NOMAD from stealing the designs in an effort to produce them themselves. Prices are known to be exorbitantly high, but there would be no other way to acquire such coveted ware other than joining the military.

If you need to do something illegal, there is no better place to go than a NOMAD facility. If you can find them, that is. For a fee, they will provide weapons, mercenaries, information, classified intelligence, hackers, or do something as simple as erase the Cyberware Identification Number (CIN) to make you invisible to cyberware detectors. For a fee, anything is possible, even breaking into corporate facilties.

NOMAD is loved and hated by all in equal capacities. Civilians find them to be a modern day Robin Hood, while corporations have put prices on several known associates and members. Locations of NOMAD facilities are highly prized among corporations, simply for the pleasure of being the one to exact brutal revenge on the ones who have wronged them.

While NOMAD is very secretive among the underground, they do have several high profile associates like King Kludge and DaemonJack. Both hackers frequently deal with the criminal empire and are occasionally requested to perform more difficult jobs, as long as the pay is good. Despite being good friends, DaemonJack’s opinion toward NOMAD has cooled significantly to the point where he is much less inclined to help NOMAD. No one is certain why the legendary hacker suddenly grew a distaste for his criminal friends.

Nubian-Saul
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~New Mecca, Saudi Arabia
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Al-Saba Kar
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Ahmad Sayed
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~No shareholder over 10%

Everyone needs money, as money makes the world go ‘round. Nubian-Saul has a complete monopoly on Terran banking. While lending money to other corporations has made the company obscenely rich off the interest, that also painted it as the biggest target among thieves. While not as brutal as The Factory in terms of self defense, Nubian-Saul has been known to be extremely strict and observant about who has its money and for how long. Corporations who do not pay back their debts tend to be slowly dismantled brick by brick from hostile takeovers or organized assaults by criminals or mercenaries.

Ten years ago, Nubian-Saul faced disaster. Dozens of Nubian-Saul extraterrestrial servers faced a massive cyber attack. After the smoke cleared, eighty two banks under corporate control found every hard drive damaged beyond repair and without a single credit to spare. Nubian-Saul’s stock plummeted, but recovered, even if it did not ascend to its former tier.

Investigations deduced the hack originated from DaemonJack, as the hacker used a distinct set of programs and callsigns in his work. Despite conclusive proof that he was responsible, the hacker has continuously denied credit for the attack.

Organic Corporate Operations (OrC Op)
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Gliese planetoid, 20 light years from Earth
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Jason Grear
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Simon Grear
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Boris Grear: 13%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lana Grear: 9%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wayne Brettin: 5%

OrC Op, owned by the Grear family, has the unique distinction of being one of the few corporations that has been hack-free. Despite it being the largest producer of food and genetic engineering of such foods, few seem to find anything about the corporation interesting other than it can constantly feed those it is contracted to provide for.

The food is not the sole product of the corporation. Orc Op develops special chemicals and growth hormones for its experiments in order to increase the size and yield of crops. Tampering with the genetic makeup of livestock and other animals used for food to provide them with cleaner and more filling meat is yet another reason to dabble in genetic engineering.

Society of Corporate Protection
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~District 19, South Africa
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Lionel Bright
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Unknown
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Private
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Unknown

More than just strong arms and thugs, the Society for Corporate Protection (SCP) specially trains men and women to provide security for various corporations and installations. New trainees are grafted with chips right into their bones to identify them. SCP security will customize their routines and behavior towards their contractors, but each is trained more rigorously than special forces.

SCP facilities and training camps are militarized and run by officers with decades of combat experience. It is extremely difficult to evade SCP security, and even more difficult to outgun them with their vast weapon reserves.

Valkyrie
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Stockholm, Sweden
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Karl Anderson
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Greta
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Karl Anderson: 22%

Named after the riders of legend, Valkyrie is what happens when hospitals are allowed their own gunships. A partner of Heliengeist, Valkyrie dropships are armed cruisers that are built solely for extractions, even in hostile lands.

Valkyrie will only operate above a planet when they have specific contracts towards people or organizations. There are two primary types of extraction contracts: Recovery, and Rain. Recovery contracts only cover expenses of pickups and emergency medical care. The much more expensive Rain contract sends gunships equipped with armed soldiers along with the standard Valkyrie dropship or helicarrier to clear the Landing Zone of hostile threats. If the LZ is not clear, the gunships will clear it, even in urban areas.If Valkyrie receives a distress call from someone without a contract, they often refuse to help.

Valkyrie requires a contract or they will not respond to a distress call. Drop ships hold all the necessary equipment for emergency and medium term medical care, including basic cybertech parts for emergency surgery.

Zenith Inc.
Corporate Headquarters~~~~~Naval Dreadnaught Absolution, Titan orbit
President/CEO~~~~~~~~~~~~Anastasia Arias
Chairman of the Board~~~~~~Oda Tsubame
Corporate Status~~~~~~~~~~~Public
Notable Shareholders~~~~~~~Anastasia Arias: 8%

The second most powerful corporation behind Essex-Imago-Iinata. Wartime production boosted Zenith from a AA corporation to the single largest producer of cyberware. A series of shrewd buyouts, bribes, and corporate positioning put Zenith in the prime spot for robotics and cyberware production for military use.

Zenith Inc. is the largest producer of cyberware. Technology from Zenith is top notch, and although they are capable of producing headware, bodyware, and cyberlimbs, their quality is only outmatched by Eden Enterprises. They hold significant R&D research into nanotechnology, bioware, military R&D, and aerospace, but their primary products are cyberware for soldiers and government employees.

Zenith owns the only known fully mobile headquarters in the form of a 6,000 meter Dreadnaught-class starship. Primarily in orbit around the Saturnian moon Titan, their engines provide them with the mobility to go where they are needed, even on the front lines. The Absolution caries four production lines to produce 4,000 unique cybertech components each day, and a molecular furnace at the fore of the ship. A squadron of mining ships can deposit raw ore into the furnace in order to refine them for cyberware production.

Zenith is a staunch prosecutor of criminals and performs extensive background checks on new employees and recipients of its wares.

Be sure to add a few companies like GE whom have survived all this time seeing as GE & IBM for example are very good at switching gears and keeping afloat.

Any relation to Security for Corporate Profiteers?

How about Eden? A software company from the late 20th century? The apple of Eden?

What else sounds like an apple--oh, wait...:yay::trollestia:

1689417
No, but they are related to Soap From Corpses Products, Inc., Skeptics of Conspiracy and the Paranormal, and South Cheyenne Point

1689506
Oh, so they are related. That's good to know. Possibly lifesaving to know.

The UIU Orientation includes several additional names: Soap and Care Products, Superior Consumer Produce, Sudden Career Possibilities, Security for Corporate Profiteers, and Spicy Crust Pizzeria

1689506

I mean physically still the same company in name and that traces its roots directly through to its original founding. However they don't have to be uber-companies like in competition with the many you have created. For example take GE, they wouldn't have to be making anything above but rather still just creating consumer goods with the occasional electrical generator.

Additionally J.P. Morgan would almost certainly still be around seeing as I highly doubt anything could actually force it to close.

I'd keep some of the car companies as well in an Earth + colonies role. They'd obviously still be making vehicles for surface and near surface travel. For example: Ford, GM, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc. Plus many of the luxury vehicle companies would still exist.

Lastly what does Earth look like map wise? While nations as we know it now may not still be around; I'd be surprised if there still isn't some borders of sort along with a bit of Nationalism with their Planetism/Speciesism. For example I doubt Americans will ever lose their former nation's pride. Not to mention I get the sense based on the way things are ran in the story that NATO were the ones who "unified" the planet under one banner.

I was honestly surprised someone saw through that so quickly. *slow clap*

1690405
I'm keeping the boarders deliberately vague in order to induce creativity, but leaving enough changes to show that it is not the same. Like now there is a massive, city-sized crater in Germany, there is a New Mecca so what happened to the old one, and such.

I'm rather burned out from writing these. I'm not in the mood to write more at the moment, but you are free to do so if you wish. My only conditions are to follow the same formula (corporate details, brief history, list of goods, and supplemental information), and keep the history narrow in scope. Don't get too detailed or complex, and reference other companies and historic events as little as possible.

1690542
I had to alter a few things, but I think I kept what was needed.

1690405 You have to remember that this is over 1000 years in the future. It's highly unlikely that and company from nowadays would still be around and if there was, it wouldn't be the same.

1692000 but 1000 years is a long time. Consider this, how many businesses are 100 years old? Yeah, there are a decent amout, but how many businesses were around 100 years ago? I'll admit there is a possibility of one or two, but it won't be a technology company. That field fluctuates way too much and ALL tech companoes now WILL fail wothin a couple hundred years at most. I'd put my money on Coke, Wal-Mart (as much as they torment me) or toyota. That kind of company

Journeyman
Group Contributor

1692064
It just depends on how well you can transfer fixed costs and liquidate assets when transfering to new goods and services. Of course, that only applies when you are a single company operating under a single product. You never do that, for if your product fails, your company dies.

The reason why there are so few computer and tech R&D companies is because there WAS NO market 100 years ago. Now there is, but the same rules apply. Be smart. Stay ahead of the curve. Know what new trends are superior to new ones. It takes a clever CEO and a good board of directors.

I experimented it with Eden. Eden would be a beast of a company, but the public fucking hates them. They love Ana and Zenith because she's a saint combined with Judge Dredd. Even if your stuff is awesome, it matters little if people don't like you.

That doesn't even take into account fixed costs, accounts payable, and other bullshit, but I'd not have to bring in my economics and accounting classes into something used for fun.

Huh. Just discovered that the HLF is an organization in TCB stories. Who knew? I've never read them.

1692150 I did say one or two two could survive, but 1000 years is a long time. Think about where we were 1000 years ago. You'd have to stay on top for that long, and THAT is why it wouldn't be more than one or two (three might happen)

Journeyman
Group Contributor

1692434
You're forgetting the war. It's a sociological impact that will force people together simply to survive. The FACE of the company may change, but not what it does. That's what subsidies are, little aspects that are branches of a whole.

I've already hinted that Eden is Apple in the future. You didn't catch the other two current companies I ninjaed in, did you? See, all I did was provide a backstory that obfuscated the truth. Just because a brick is weathered by time does not mean the grains of sand don't remain.

shirotora
Group Admin

1692456 I noticed them, and THAT is how the couple corperations that do survive would. They wouldn't be exactally the same, but close enough.

1691735

There are some Breweries from Germany and a construction company in Japan over 1000 years old.

What I meant from not being different is that it traces its lineage back to the company of today and still maintains the name.

For example DuPont has been a company since 1802

I think you might have missed one in particular. I told the recent past. I didn't talk about the distant past.
