Silver, Sir Humphrey's militant cousin and a progress update · 4:31pm Sep 27th, 2022
Yesterday, the results of the Fifth Annual Equestria at War Writing Contest came in, and to my surprise my entry Teething Troubles came second!
Do have a look at the other fics on the podium and the honourable mentions, if you haven't already.
I could ramble about how the position is perhaps fitting, considering my love of Elves and their own regard of silver as the most precious of metals, but that would be pretentious. Instead, I will simply say that I have another short story fairly close to completion, this time focusing on Luna and the beginning of her efforts to reform the army around a year before the outbreak of the Great War, with the help (or 'help') of the civil service. Hopefully it will fly better than a brick.
In closing news, chapter twenty-nine of the first Quenta Roccolië book is also currently underway. As feared in my 'butterfly woes' post, progress has been in the face of a now greatly changed set of events and improve the flavour of the final segment of the story. On the bright side, I'm into the last fifteen thousand words or so (hopefully), which once complete will warrant a final rapid reread just to make sure I've not made any continuity errors and then a passing of the pen to the betas.
