My Little Pony G5 News 09/23/2022 · 2:51pm Sep 23rd, 2022

Morning Pippsqueaks! Cue the theme track!

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for Generation 5 and beyond! Following the discussion off the previous blog, we are currently only 'one' weekend away from an additional follow-up for the 'G5' line-up. We've recently seen new comics in release continuing the adventures of the 'Mane 5' and each week we've seen the slice-of-life moments within the YouTube release of 'Tell Your Tale' (Some episodes being good, others... not so much). But in three days time, we are about to bear witness to the release of 'Chapter 2' of a series based off the opening special:

Make Your Mark

Two days and 16 hours counting...

Now fans have been asked this one question following the release of the trailer: Has it gotten the fans 'excited' for Chapter Two? For the most part, a handful of fans are actually looking forward to it and remain hyped for what's to come. The other half of the spectrum felt the trailer didn't do much for them and thereby made them feel even less excited for this upcoming series, in addition to their skepticism for 'G5' as a whole. And somewhere in between, there's the 'neutral' party... they are neither excited nor do they hate it... if anything they're indecisive of their status at this time. The real question we truly must ask is: 'Why' should we even be excited for Chapter Two?

If he starts singing, I'm going to throw up...

*Frowns in annoyance*

To better understand the trailer based off a previous discussion, let us refer to the new synopsis which in some way gives us a slight more detail on what we witnessed at the time:

Magic has finally returned to Equestria thanks to Sunny Starscout and her new friends!

And a new podcast to follow, starring yours truly!

Yes Pipp, we know... *Clears throat*

The Pegasi can fly and the Unicorns can use levitation again... and the Earth ponies have activated their own special magic for the very first time in history. Which is exhilarating... but, well, also a little scary and strange. Right, because plant magic is the most scariest form of power in Equestria right now...

I'm just a mean green mother from outer space and I'm bad (Mean, green, bad)

Still not intimidating?

Oh, shut up!

And now that Sunny is an Alicorn with powers, there's a lot to figure out. It's a whole new world!

A whole new world...

NOT NOW, TIMBER SPRUCE!!!

Based off the synopsis, along with some additional footage, plant magic with Earth ponies and Sunny's quest to fully understand herself will play a slight part in this eight episode release on Netflix (If the adventures in 'Tell Your Tale' are not enough). What's really interesting is the statement of a 'whole new world', as up till now we've only seen but a fraction of this new Equestria ever since the first movie. As we know, Equestria is a far bigger world than even we thought when 'G4' got off the ground and the most we get of an expanded world are within the comics (Though the question of its continuity with the series remains in doubt). And yet even with what limited views we have of this Equestria, it's grown so popular that parts of the world are getting featured on Roblox.

Barely looks better than the Nintendo Switch game, I'll say this much.

In preparation for the upcoming following for 'Make Your Mark', several new songs based off the show are slated to be featured during the series. Some of which were previously teased in the trailers, while others are completely brand new. Though some were currently unavailable, making it difficult for fans to watch depending on their locations, some regions were granted a sneak peek over the musical offerings through Spotify (Complete with video).

These ponies are definitely leaving their 'mark' on social media.

Eventually, the full chapter 2 soundtrack has become available on YouTube, complete with links and a playlist for easy listening. The playlist for the track includes, but not limited to:

  1. A Special Tune
  2. All You Need is Your Beat (Including a Remix)
  3. Everything is Gonna Be Ok (Which we 'did' hear back in the first special)
  4. Portrait Day
  5. Where'd It Go
  6. Pony Love
  7. Make Your Mark

Now fans have often argued that the music for 'G5' pales in comparison to the works of Daniel InGram back during the hay-day of 'G4'. But after a careful review of each of these songs one by one, while each of them are different, I actually find them rather enjoyable. True some fans argue that this is generic kid-pop tunes and in some cases I can understand where they are coming from. But it really depends on 'how' you hear the music and how it rings within one's ear. Now I always believe in a song that tells a story and not just because it's what's popular in today's media. If the animation that follows can prove just as strongly as these tracks are developed to be, then it seems we may be in good hands... or 'hooves'. For those who wish to have a listen for yourselves, the full track can be found right here:

Last, but certainly not least, we recently received a clip as sort of a demo of what's still to come for this series. The following link before you not only features further shenanigans of Sunny and her friends, but we also get a glimpse of Misty performing some recon for her Queen employer as well as the return of a character we haven't even seen since the events of 'A New Generation'. Now, if you don't wish to be spoiled until the next week, please ignore the link in the description. But for those curious as far as what this series is going for, please click here:

You know some fans are still going to hate this, right?

*Groans* Look... all joking aside, I get why some fans are not comfortable with this new direction that MLP is undergoing right now. Some have even argued that this series has taken a step backwards from the impact that G4 worked so hard to achieve. Though if I were to choose between binging this whole series coming up and that 'TTG' crap that for some reason is still playing on T.V., well... of course I would have to side with the ponies because for the most part they are tolerable.

WILL YOU STOP ACTING LIKE YOU'RE BETTER THAN US?!?!?!

Yeah... that's not an act.

Speaking of binging the whole series, we do have to raise a valid point: How would I, the Dramamaster829, even cover the series if 'all' the episodes will be released on Netflix all at once? On that note, I haven't actually decided just how I'm going to do it... at least not yet. On one hand, I could spend each week going over one episode after another. On the other hand, because we're dealing with eight episodes, I could easily cover 'two' per week. All and all, it just depends on how much material on this series I can gather in terms of gallery line-up. I'm still not over the fact that picture gathering has been slow for the 'TYT' series, hence all the delays...

We're doing the best we can!

Overall, however I choose to cover 'Make Your Mark' (At least as far as Chapter Two is concerned), I'm really being as cautiously optimistic as I was with everything else for G5 (Including the first special I've yet to even cover for the same issues). I never really expected this whole series to be a 'perfect' follow-up, as I still acknowledge the generation as a whole still have issues I truly hope they'll address as a way of hearing out their fans' concerns.

This moment alone even addresses how 'messy' G5 can be.

Ultimately, the developers and producers behind this series are the ones who decide what they want to do with this series. We know that the cast they hired must at least be 'trying' to make the most of their opportunity, we'd like to imagine that within that studio are some young kids and fellow actors wanting to have fun with their work. Each of which have a vision and a plan already lined-up long before we are even aware of what's coming. I may not know exactly what that initial wrap up may ultimately be, but at the very least I can only hope that I can try to enjoy this series like any fan who's ever followed a whole franchise their entire life. I'm not the 'biggest' MLP fan in the world, but I do believe in great storytelling, unforgettable characters, and everything else in between.

The bigger question remains: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.

Until then faithful readers, this is the Dramamaster829 who'd like you to remember this one piece of advice:

Remember 'who' you are.

Now... hit that new theme music!

Awesome blog Drama, the only thing I can do now is wait to see what comes from the future Chapter 2, I’m more eager with them bringing back Twilight, no doubt, anyways, stay cool, stay classy, you’re awesome 🎭

I'd say take your time with the reviews, if you can't do a lot at a time because you want to make sure they're good, then that's fine!

They definitely featured Twilight Sparkle for a purpose. She's clearly trying to send a message about something. Perhaps it was done prior to the second-to-last episode back when the crystals were still relatively new. Which would likely mean that the separation of the crystals occurred sometime after the events of the series finale, which would've indicated that the crystals were a strong force at the time.

Who knows? If the galleries for either projects I've been missing start to pick up, I'll have the material for at least the ones I haven't had the privilege to cover for the following reasons. Otherwise, I'm looking at 'tons' more to work with than I was hoping for. To this day, I can't even understand the delays myself and I've already asked... but the answer I received wasn't good enough for me.

It’s definitely got me curious 🧐

Ah...well, good look then?

I know this is late but did that the improve? It look way nicer than the last last one.

Grammatically, I could not very well understand what the heck you're trying to ask me.

But as far as what I did see with what they did with 'Chapter 2', I will admit there was some improvement and I even got a slight chuckle out of some of the humor. They still have a long ways to go, but they'll get the hang of it eventually.

I forgot to put animation but yeah it improves as well

I think this is the first mlp series to be a sequel to the previous one

In a way it is, considering that 'G5' in general is a slightly direct follow-up to G4. Now granted G4 has made mention of several G1 elements but they never directly connect the events between G1-G3 as 'canon'. They do not even mention most of the events that occurred during those years, barely even referencing Megan Williams.
