Hi there.
So I haven’t been around much, and been writing even less. There was this little thing called extended unemployment (“funemployment,” but with all the fun bleached out of it.). Which is now, thankfully, behind me.
But I always go to Everfree NW. Because it’s where all the online friends who have kept me sane over the last few years meet up. And yes, they’re BerryTubers.
And a few years ago I did Iron Author. And I got hooked, but at the same time kind of eh about it, because I’d never even placed. Then someone referred me to Quills & Sofas Speedwriting, did it a few times, picked up a few tips, read some really good stories, refined the whole “show, don’t tell” thing we’re supposed to do.
But this year, something happened. Short version, I won Iron Author.
So, I did learn something from all those speed writers who’s fics I read and commented on.
Anyway, the story I wrote, The Origin Of A Species, will be up as soon as it gets an editing pass. It’s a story about kirin, and a story about love. Thanks to Xepher and the Iron Author crew, thanks to FanOfMostEverything and Mica for their excellent stories, thanks to Q&S and BerryTube for the inspiration.
My flight home’s about to board. See you out in the world.
