New Story Up! · 10:00pm Jul 31st, 2022

Hey guys! After a little time off, I decided to whip up a story about Scootaloo's Auntie Lofty for Bicyclette's Lofty and Holiday Contest. I always liked contests that focused on underutilized characters, so I decided to throw my hat into the ring. It was more so I could break out of my writing funk and put something out there, even if it's not the greatest. I'm still trying to get over everything that happened, and this is a baby step towards that.

My story focuses on the idea that Lofty used to be a baseball player, an idea I came up with purely because she called Scootaloo "slugger" once. That, and the fact that my aunt looks weirdly similar to Lofty and her father used to play baseball a lot too. I suspected a lot of other folks writing for the contest would focus on both Holiday and Lofty to show their relationship, but I wanted to write a story that focused on one of them as the main character. Lofty always came off as the more distinctive one of the two, and by mixing in a little bit of my family history, I thought there could be an interesting characterization of her as a former athlete (she seemed lithe enough to be one in her younger days).

Anyway, if that story idea sounds interesting to you, check it out!

Auntie Lofty had a past she didn't want to talk about. Scootaloo had a classroom that was dying to know.
