    Overdue Update

    I know I haven't uploaded a single chapter during 2022 and I apologize.

The last year (and right now) has been emotionally exhausting for me to the point that my mental health has declined.

I'm fine now, and I'm currently seeking out help in that regards. I'm not sure when I'll get the next chapter up, so I'm sorry for anyone who was disapointed.

Still alive as always. Next chapter has been taking time but 7/8th of it rough draft wise is finished, key word being 'rough' meaning it's not good yet for all of you to bear witness to. In the meantime, in my spare time I've been brainstorming for my own original post-apoc setting that I'm certain is really stupid but could go places if you get what I mean. As a treat for all of you waiting,

As a treat for all of you waiting, here is what I has written so far for this setting:

In the World Before, on the planet of Iae, there was a resource known as Arcanium. It was a ruby crystal mined from the planet’s ground that could be used as energy for technology and enhance the human body to the point one could cast magic… It’s like materia from Final Fantasy 7.

This resource was super valuable and the planet of Iae was subject to many warring nations seeking to monopolize its power. One of such nations was the Federated States of Alria (FSA). It was a constitutional monarchy that had formed from the old Kingdom of Ria and other neighboring kingdoms within the continent of Alria. It held a massive advantage in arcanotech and spellcraft that put it above its geopolitical rivals. Alria sought to maximize the potential Arcanium could deliver, even against the warnings of arcanologists worried that too much potent Arcanium could result in an ecological disaster at the end of the line. In time, Alria became a global superpower, and enjoyed a glorious golden age…

And then aliens invaded.

The Dri’ch, a fish-like species of a galactic warmongering empire, sought to invade Iae for its Arcanium and resettle the planet for its own interests. With advanced biomechanical weaponry fueled by Arcanium from other planets, they pushed Iae on the brink of calamity, eventually forcing Alria to create temporary alliances with its rivals. As the years wore on, Alria further advanced its arcanotech in combination with captured Dri’ch technology, and the Dri’ch being spread thin across its conquests began to drain away at the Invasion of Iae.

And then more aliens came.

The Avis, a bird-like humanoid species of another empire that thought to bring harmony through their leader’s hive mind, eventually came to Iae to fight against their rival the Dri’ch. At first, Iae was grateful for the Avis until it became clear that while the Avis weren’t out to exterminate them, they aimed to enslave them (and also take their Arcanium).

With their rival now solely focused on Iae, the Dri’ch Empire reallocated its forces toward Iae, reinvigorating its war efforts. The War for Iae became a three-way war that lasted for decades.

Over time, the FSA became more and more powerful as other nations became too weak and thus were absorbed. Over time its technology grew stronger, enough to eventually start a research and development for a secret superweapon of arcane might.

The official name for this superweapon became lost, but colloquially it became known as the **Apocalypse Cannon**.

The Apocalypse Cannon was designed for one purpose: to eliminate both the Dri’ch and Avis’ starfleets up above them, and thus tearing the heads of both invasions. It would fire a condensed beam of Arcanium, which would then chain and spread itself to nearby ships.

Arcanologists however were concerned that such condensed Arcanium, something even the Dri’ch and Avis were reportedly too scared to pursue, would create an even worse disaster than the one they had predicted before the war. But the FSA heard none of it, and on the Final Day, the Apocalypse Cannon was completed, and fired into the sky.

It worked: both the Dri'ch and Avis fleets were annihilated. But with the combination of potent Arcanium tearing against reality itself, and Avis’ hivemind leader caught in the blast, created a catastrophe that changed Iae forever.
A great cosmic crack-like scar was torn against the sky surrounding Iae, seeping crimson magic that soon fell down and contaminated Iae, and with the mix of the Avis’ hivemind leader, created a magic network that human, Dri’ch, and Avis were all forced to connect to. The Cosmic Scar would also isolate Iae from the rest of the universe, forcing Dri’ch and Avis still on the planet to remain.

The earth shifted, animal and person went mad, and so much chaos occurred that after decades of struggling to remain in control, the FSA collapsed, with only small remnants hiding.

Many decades have passed after the FSA’s fall, and Iae is now a world struggling to recover. The descendants of the war, human, Dri’ch, and Avis, carry on through Iae’s Wastelands. The World Before is dead, never to return, with new world on the horizons to take its place. What that world is, is yet to be decided.
