Back before I started 16, this was the story I desperately wanted to get done in December 2019. That obviously didn’t happen. Back then, it would’ve been a bit more unique than it is now. As it stands, this is now the sixteenth CozyHeart story on the site, which is pretty impressive.
As it stands, this one’s a long way from conclusion. While they’ve shared their first kiss, one was using it for malicious purposes while the other wasn’t amused by it at all. Yes, this is a shipping story, something I’m not known for. Romance isn’t my forte, but I do like CozyHeart as a ship. Since I started the group for it, I figure I should actually contribute a story to it. That would help, wouldn’t it?
I feel somewhat guilty tagging this a ‘romance’ since we’re 20,000 words in and they’re still not a couple yet. It’s going to be a while, but their romance will develop naturally, over time. There are a lot of obstacles these two need to overcome to get a happily ever after. Cozy isn’t going to fall head over hooves in love with Flurry just because the little alicorn helped set her free. Twilight would’ve done it eventually, anyway, she just thinks Flurry is the right pony for the job.

Do they work together as a couple? I guess that depends entirely on your point of view. People often get into relationships they shouldn’t.
Cozy Glow isn’t exactly the kind of pony to fall in love. As she notes in story, romance is an ‘unneeded distraction’ to her. However, she also hasn’t hit puberty yet. Sooner or later her hormones are going to kick in and if you thought she was a wild child, just wait until she’s a teenager!

I’m trying to avoid clichés with this. What you won’t see in this story:
-Flurry & Cozy being madly in love with each other from the start (no love at first sight)
-Flurry dating Cozy to mess with her parents
-Flurry falling in love with a bad girl for the sake of falling in love with a bad girl
-Flurry having daddy issues
-Cozy deciding to be good because she’s fallen in love
-Cozy randomly falling in love with Flurry one day
-Cozy spending an afternoon as a hat rack (seriously, it’s been done before)
What you will see:
-A mentally abusive relationship
-An unhealthy power dynamic
-Cozy unwittingly falling in love over time
-Cozy struggling with reformation and the concept of making friends
-Two highly intelligent fillies playing chess, literally and figuratively
-Two young mares learning a lot about life, love, each other, and themselves
-Overuse of the word ‘golly’
-And perhaps most important of all, a happy ending.

That’s the beauty of fanfiction. Cozy Glow got a raw deal in canon. There was no reason they couldn’t have opted to reform her.
I enjoy writing redemption stories for her, and this time around wanted her to find love too.

I love the way you wrote the banter/bickering between Cozy and Flurry in chapter 2, it's very fun to read :3

This is like the best Cozy Glow character I ever saw. It's better than any fanfiction one, god, it's better than an original one. I soooo excited to see where all this is coming
